View Full Version : Windy summon? Why not Spirit Wolves?

People say it's up to your playing style. Well, I haven't ever made a PvP windy. Personally though, I would pick the dire wolves over the grizzly because I understand that summons aren't there to do damage and IMO the distraction is great. However, if dire wolves are used as a distraction then why aren't spirit wolves recommended as a summon for a windy?

Yes, I realize there's already another thread on this, but it's like 3 years old.

So which summon do you play the most with and why?

Spirit wolves FTW.

5 wovles > 3 wolves.
And that's one point you dont need to spend to get dire or two to get grizzly.

I have 1 point in all 3 summons.
I use spirit wolfs vs barbs and smiters.

But vs sorceress i like to use the bear.
when you name-lock-tele a sorc with a bear there are a pretty good chance that the bear use its smite attack and knocks back the sorc, and that put them into fhr animation just like smite from a paladin.

Im not 100% sure on this but i allso think that you cant be name-locked when you use bear.

you can, but if you miss, you will end up hitting the bear. the same thing is for wolfs, only that there are more of them :P

More = better. Always. Summons aren't there for the damage. (Grizzly maybe, in rare cases, but then you'll most likely have like...20 points in it)
Distraction is good. Imagine a zealer.
You and a grizzly -> Half of the hits will be aimed at you.
You and 3 wolves -> 1/4 of the hits...
You and 5 wolves -> 1/6 of the hits...
Hell, zeal only makes 5 swings, you might stay clean of the first attack if you're lucky.

Oh, and you can never have too many points in Oak Sage.

There are no zealers in the pvp scene... At least I haven't seen any.

But that's true. If you're using summons, use spirit wolves for their allowed number or grizzly. Vs sorces I sometimes use bear, sometimes wolves. Depends. Wolves after tele stomp are also attacking the sorc forcing block/fhr animation.

If you still have points on a wind druid after maxing oak, then you are doing way too much levelling. ;O

Wind Synergies
Summons
Oak

After that nothing is needed.

At lvl 99 we have 110 skill points to spare.

For wind druid:
1 arctic
20 cyclone
20 twister
20 tornado
20 hurricane
20 oak
1 raven
1 spirit w
1 dire w
1 grizzly

As you can see, lvl 94 is all you need to complete it.
