Okay so here's something that I'm sure has happened to all of us.

We go to fight meph, but we can't moat trick him because Bremm and his gang are right at the end of the center little walkway to spew us all with hydras, or maffer dragonhand catches us. So instead of leaving the game, here is a little trick I'm not sure everyone knows about.

On the right little stairway, where there is a right angle, if you lead meph up those first set of stairs and to that right angle corner and teleport down, he'll be stuck at that little corner and you can "moat trick him" from there. Similarly (although difficult), if you go up and leave him down, he can get stuck on the OTHER side of the right angle. Since I don't have screenshots, let me try a little drawing...

So here's a little makeshift map of the top part of durance 3, where C is the chest behind meph, M is meph's spawn starting point, A is the armor stand, and W is the weapon stand, and S denote some stairs.

What you can do if you can't moat him is this: lead him up the right side of stairs, and then teleport away. Step 1 should be as follows: Teleport past meph and lead him up the stairs again (since he'll come down to engage you initially).

Where the U denotes you (the player). Meph should be following you up the stairs.

So here we are leading meph right to that little right angle to get stuck. Now step 3...teleport.

The situation should now look something like this, where meph is stuck at that right angle waddling around helplessly, while you bomb him with your choice of meteor or blizzard.

i never use the moat trick. there's 2 corners beside the steps i get him stuck at and use charged bolt (lite sorc) or meteor (fb'er), where the x's are..much easier than moat trick and 1/10 of the time

they are not always there.. even counchill members spots varie.. use what you can and when you can. they are just alternative spots

Another trick i figured out just yesterday, dunno if its been done befor tho:
First, make a TP at the D3 stairs or your favourite D3 safe-spot. The portal to A4 can be used with telekinesis. if you name-lock (pretty much a projectile-only practice unless you have a REALLY good tank-merc) you can move your cursor over the A4 portal and keep teleK on your alternate skill button. this way you can a faster and more effective escape than arguably any other in the game (that I know humbly know of). for example, if theres a wave CBs coming at you, and suddenly you get it by an orb that puts you at near death and happen to have no rejuvs left, you can dissapear in a fraction of a second. get your merc from tyreal if you want/need to, take the WP to A3 and your TP to D3. rinse, repeat ;)
with metor/blizzard/firewall/FO its a bit trickier beacause you have that small amount of time before you can use any skills at all. dont get caught by this!

P.S works with the pindle portal too

No, but it is commonly known to reduce people's ability to spell correctly. :afro:

yup, you just never know.. last night i walked towards wyands room after taking care of meph, saw my life take a huge drop from a few fireballs from a boss pack of blood lords and almost got locked. i then tele'd into the middle of wyands room right into another boss pack. needless to say, death's advocate had approached :P

If you can afford to swap out your MF ammy, wear a rising sun and then the hydras will actually heal you :grin:
