View Full Version : Help! Need info on how damage is applied!

I need to know how these damage modifiers are applied and in what order for a melee character:
PvP penalty (not sure if this is different for melee than for casters)
Damage Reduced by %
Damaged Reduced by # & MDR by #

I need to know this information before I look to buy a eth Gbane for my Conc barb and need to know how much the DR# and MDR will affect the damage I take from other melee characters.

Most Conc barbs get 7-8k max with 3-4k min damage and add 1 point into berserk, which is where the MDR comes into play.

Also I will be using this info for my eValor build to see if it affects the damage I take very much. Every little bit helps in duels.

Of those modifiers that you listed, the PvP penalty is applied first, then the straight damage reduction and magical damage reduction, and finally the resistances which includes damage reduced by xx%.

I've heard 1/7 or 1/12 as the PvP penalty. Which one is it?

Yea, 1/6 is right.

"Other Information

When attacking other players, all damage of attacks and spells is 17% or 1/6. Some spells are special cased, such as Paladin Thorns, which will only do 1/10th the damage against other players. The duration of poison and cold are not affected unless the player has equipment that relates to those elemental attacks.
Valkyries, Hirelings, Skeletons, and Golems will attack other players when Hostile. Minion's damage will be cut in half when attacking other players.
Iron Maiden has an additional 1/4 damage penalty"
