View Full Version : Set, Unique or Crafted???
I just wanted to ask if completed sets (probably class specific), lots of uniques or maybe even crafted items are more powerfull.

Generally it depends on the build
Most class specific sets can be useful, but powerful uniques/magic/rare/crafted, generally are better. Runewords of course are the best..

it will always depend on the build.
Runewords of course are the best..
utter ********. show me a runeword Amulet? a runeword Belt?, Ring?, Boots?
it depends on what you need. some stats are ONLY available on crafted items (ammy's with >10% Faster Cast Rate for example)
OK, thank's. That's clear enaugh.

Sometimes there are set items that are more useful by themselves than in the whole set. Case in point: Sigons set.
I like to use the Gloves, Belt, and Boots (and sometimes the shield depending on the build) together because these pieces all deliver desireable traits in and of themselves- but I think the set as a whole is kinda limp.
There are also some crappy runewords, uniques, and crafted items, too.
I think it all depends on what you are doing with the build and what you need.
A good example of this. . .some Bow using Amazons can really benefit from knockback effects on their attacks. Crafting a set of hitpower gloves takes care of this need and could potentially deliver some other usable effects, too. So for these builds (and a few others) crafting is a very useful thing. On the other hand, if you are building a character that really needs to be able to teleport. . .then making an 'enigma' armor would be quite beneficial to you.
Mixing and matching equipment can lead to some pretty awesome combos, or it can completely ruin a build- just depends on how much thought you put into the items you choose.
Set items got gimped the most with 1.10, not because they aren't useful, but because everything else was so much more powerful. At the moment there are only a handful of specific combinations of set items that get used at the end-game; the Angelic jewelry is a good example. The class specific sets are probably the best ones, but frankly, the IK and Tal-rasha sets are the only ones I've seen used regularly, as every other class benefits more from uniques and runewords.
On the other hand, the IK set is probably the cheapest way to outfit a hell-viable barbarian, and you'll see a lot of them running around for exactly that reason.

I saw an awesome runeword glove on USWest before the ruststorm.
