Hey, i'm making a blizzard sorc and i'm just wondering what % MF is good? and if you had the d2 money (not saying i do) what is the "rich mans" setup? i'd like to know what i should be shooting for.

also, does anyone what the max % MF is for a sorc? for a barb i know it can be something ridiculous like 950%, but wondering what a sorc can hit...

300-400 is decent and pretty reasonable MF. With ideal gear setups for killing hell meph you can probably get in the mid 500s. Sorcs can probably hit around 950 max also.

kill speed over mf.. anything that doesent slow you down (too mutch) is good.

To be perfectly honest. . .unless you plan on doing thousands upon thousands of MF runs. . .then around 300% is plenty.

You won't notice the difference in drops between 300% and 500% or more, but you WILL notice the killing speed / survivability difference.

Also remember that your merc's MF is added to yours when he/she makes the kill. So if your Act II merc is packing a Meat Scraper and is decked out in all P'topazed gear (easily adding 100-200 to your MF) then simply having a Gull Dagger and a Rhyme shield on the switch should be enough to get you around 300 or so without effecting your good primary gear.

If you don't want to have the merc get the kill, then a Steal Skull Helm, Skullders Ire Armor, Chance Guards Gloves (Up'd of course), and a Gold Wrap Belt are all good MF Pieces (remember the Gull / Rhyme combo on the switch).

take care of your survival & firepower mods before trying to dope-up heavily on %MF.
anything around ~300% is plenty imho.

myself: i carry 7%mf on my sorc. it's a "useless" mod on one of my rings. i see absolutely no point in having any more personally.

One really, really good reason is rares.

You will see a boat-load more rares with your MF pumped up. Some rares have the potential to be more powerful than the vaunted uniques, and can even give some of the runewords a run for their money. Not to mention the excessive style points gained by not using the cookie-cutter uniques.

An example of this is in the Amazon forum. Superdave posted a picture of a KILLER rare bow in a thread about 'Superdaves Bows' that shows the true power of a nice rare. You will see a dramatic increase in the number of things that drop rare and a really dramatic increase in the number of magic items.

This alone should be reason enough to put more into your MF%.

500 is pretty reasonable and easily attainable with decent gear. The most expensive part would probably be the charms though.
