Can a paladin only shield get both of these, or only one?

a white paladin shield that is, no magical or rare.

The reason im wondering is Im looking for a shield to put sanctuary in.

And can larzuk give paladin shields 3 sox?

They either come with res or with ed+ar. Those are the only combinations, nothing else.

Larzak will almost always give 4soc to any type of pally shield- I think ones that drop in act 1 norm would get 3.
For sactuary, you'll most likely want res. But it's your choice.

Act1 normal gets three when socketed at larzuk? Sounds great, however, I would want to have an exceptional shield atleast, so if i upgrade it be4 i take it to larzuk will it still get 3sox? If i socket it first, can I upgrade it afterwards?

You can't upgrade normal items, only rares and uniques :/ The only way to get 3 sockets is to find it, or to use the cube, and hope for 3.

Would a shield with 59% ed and +100ish AR be considered pretty good, and be good for say a zealot build? I have one that I think I got from hell difficulty on a mule. I'd nearly forgotten about it except for this thread.

the best possible ed roll is 121 AR, 65% ED

45% all res is the best resist roll possible..

I'll keep that in mind. :smiley: What would be good to put in it? Spirit or save for something like Exile...in the vain hope that I ever get enough hrs for that.

1 Tal Rune + 1 Amn Rune + 1 Perfect Ruby + Normal Shield = Socketed Shield of same type

1 Tal Rune + 1 Shael Rune + 1 Perfect Diamond + Normal Unique Armor = Exceptional Version of Armor

all well and good for UNIQUE items, but not so useful for white/grey ones that can take a Runeword.

you cannot "up" set, magic or white/grey items, only uniques & rares.

But if i find an excep/elite shield and use the socket recipe, what is the chance of getting 3 sockets?

1 Tal Rune + 1 Amn Rune + 1 Perfect Ruby + Normal Shield = Socketed Shield of same type

Oh, and one more thing. If I use the recipe and it gets 4 sox, can I use the recipe again on the 4 sox shield?

There is a 25% chance to get 3 sockets. Once it has been socketed, it cannot be socketed (rerolled) again.

If it get 4 sockets, I guess it would be resellable for about the same value I bought it for, right?

Nope 25% to get each of 1, 2, 3 or 4 sockets.

If it gets one socket it'll be completely useless. Two will let you make a nice Rhyme, three for Sanctuary and 4 for Spirit.

hey i'm looking at making a spirit shield i have a 3 socket shield protector shield atm and was wondering if i took it to larzuk will he give it another socket? also the shield gives 24% enhanced defence and 360 to attack rating does that make magical? because the title is grey like a socket shield yet it gives magical bonuses. just making sure that it will work when i try to put the runes in.

Firstly, no, he wont give it another socket.

Secondly, yes, if its grey, then you can put rw's in it, including spirit.

24% is however quite low, so you might want to look for for a 50%+ one.

I found one yesterday 45 resist all akaran targe to bad it was single player and turned out to be magical doh.

Also had a 4 open socket superior etheral boneweave...but the game didn't save ugh.

Yeah you cant have the combo on a normal shield but you can on a magivcal likeI did yesterday.

Argg, of course that's right. I always forget about the six socket thing when it comes to items that can't actually get that many sockets!

Anyway, makes a lot better chances for getting that nice base shield for Spirit!
