Daggermancer Leveling

Any other dagger necros out there have a hard time leveling initially? I'm having a bear of a time keeping my 20 daggermancer alive long enough to poke people. Should I just leech for another twenty levels or so? Should I beef up my clay golem more than 1 in CG and 1 in GM? Dump some points into bone wall? Any advice would be lovely.

Until your Daggermancer has enough 'umph' in his skills- I like to use another form of attack. . .namely RANGED attack.

Get yourself a crossbow or bow and socket it with emeralds (or really any elemental attack will do- I just prefer poison). Hopefully you have also found yourself some xx poison damage over xx seconds charms. Use those with the emeralds. If you have any gear thatg deals poison damage, use it, too.

Early on the enemies have such low HP's that poison works relatively fast, plus- hardly ANY are immune so early on to poison.

Also, don't be afraid to toss a couple points in Bone Armor. Even if it negates just one hit from a monster- it may just save your life. Learn to play back from the enemies- this is a skill you will use even when your daggermancer comes into his own. Run in, poke, and vanish. Leave the messy stuff for the Golem and the Merc.

Thanks for the advice, J. It sped up the killing and keeps me alive. I knew there was a reason they put gems in the game, other than cubing. :thumbsup:

Also consider using Dim Vision. Most glorious curse ever for a dagger Necro. Will let you take your sweet time on what you kill.

I would suggest picking a higher level character {about 10 levels above your necro}, and shop in act 5 for some lances and heavy armor gear. Pick out a nice level deffensive act 2 merc and he will be more than happy to kill everything for you.

If you keep upgrading his weapons as you level, you can probably use him to get threw nightmare, by then you should be able to start pumping out some of your own damage.

I highly suggest picking up some crushing blow for your leveling here. Try a crushflange or whatever that normal unique mace is. It will help with the bosses.


edit; and if you have 1 point in life tap, he will never die unless there is some crazy mob.
