Hey guys, me and my friend just made a grief phase blade to use on a smiter for über-killing. The thing is, when he equipped it, the smite damage didn't change. Now what I'm wondering is if this is a bug or something? Or doesn't the added dmg show up on the character screen?
The character screen doesn't show the real damage.

Do a search for "LCS" on the forums, and you'll find what you're looking for...

From what I understand, the grief damage is added to the shield damage before fana, but this is not shown in the LCS (lying character screen as Requiem is referring to, because of it's many errors), thus a grief equipped smiter will have to calculate their own damage if you want an exact number. An aside- for uber killing, grief isn't necessarily the best- i've found black in a flail or knout is better as high crushing blow is the deciding factor in killing speed. With black you get 40% cb, enough ias so that you don't need any other sources of ias for max smite speed, and the optimum range of 3 (vs 2 for phase blade). This frees up more of your other gear for resists as opposed to increasing your cb. Not to mention black is dirt cheap. I know people out there are thinking 'what a newb' - but I have grief/coa/exile equipped smiters, and for ubers, I leave the grief in the stash. Grief is a pvp or general pvm weapon to me, not for bosses. If you want a more godly option- I had a nice 70% cb last wish last ladder that made uber trist pathetically easy with the high life tap and fade.

Alright, thanks for the replies guys. We tested it out ourselves and thank god the cs lies like a mofo, wouldn't want that very expensive piece of eq to be a total waste :-P.
And to euroeric, thanks for the tips, the greif idea I got from the 1 point smiter guide to Uber Tristram by kingdryland. We're going with 20 pt. smite, since it's a pure über-killer, but I have a feeling it'll get the job done :-).
