Wouldn't the venom charges off of the arachs reduce the whole poison length to .4 seconds?

it cuts all other sources of poison to just .4 seconds. it doesn't compress the damage to make it faster, it just cuts it short, so the overall damage is usually miniscule.

You essentially get the exact same amount of damage over 12 seconds if you hit the enemy that many times.
