View Full Version : Hybrid Build Variant?

I've been browsing the sticky for guides, but haven't found one with exactly the build I'm trying to make. I haven't played an Amazon in a while, so I was wondering if this build would be viable. I'm trying to make a hybrid Bow/Javelin Amazon and would like to know if these skill allocations would work:
20 Lightning Fury
20 Strafe
20 Valkyrie
1 in each passive skill
I suppose one question would be, is only one point in each passive skill necessary for efficiency? I know the percentages hit a wall around ~50% and I figure that +skills from gear would make up for that. Another question would be, have I allocated enough points into skills for doing damage in hell with multiple players? I know that it's really not worth maxing the synergies for Lightning Fury because you only get like a 1% damage increase per skill point, and I also know that Strafe has no synergies, but can do some good damage with appropriate gear and a mercenary. Should I also max a skill like Charged Strike or Jab for killing bosses or "larger" monsters (potentially lightning immunes)? Also, what should my stat allocation look like and potentiall gear setups be? I suppose I could look at other guides for suggestions, as they really just differ with the skills and usually demand similar gear setups.

To get better help you need to say what is intended gear, mainly bow, for skills I can say you need something in critical strike, penetrate (for the bow mode) and pierce for both modes, more after you como with a equipment list.

Like I said - I haven't played Amazons in a long time (pre-1.11) so I'm not quite sure what great equipment is. I'm playing Single Player now, but I would still like to know what ideal gear would be. I know it's harder to get some stuff but not impossible. I'm assuming the only expensive runewords that I would need for this character would possibly be a Faith Matriarchal bow and maybe a Fortitute armor? Here's what I'm assuming would be a decent gear setup:
Helm - Andariel's Visage/Giant Skull (I like the mods on both of these but would probably take Andariel's for the +skills)
Amulet - Cat's Eye/Atma's Scarab/Mara's Kalaedascope/Highlord's Wrath (way too many good options here but I think Highlord's has the best melee mods)
Ring 1 - Ravenfrost (duh...)
Ring 2 - Ravenfrost/Bul-Katho's Wedding Band/Wisp Projector (again - too many good options, but the BK is nice for life and the +skills but another Ravenfrost would rock as well)
Weapon 1 - Titan's Revenge (duh...though ideally I'd get an ethereal one and "up" it)
Weapon 2 - ??? (I'm thinking Faith Matriarchal Bow but that is incredibly expensive)
Shield 1 - "Spirit" Monarch/Stormshield (not sure here - is it worth wearing the Stormshield for the %DR or are the FHR% and +skills on the "Spirit" worth ditching that?)
Shield 2 - N/A (arrows? this is the bow slot)
Armor - "Fortitude" (insert-armor-here)
Gloves - Dracul's Grasp/Rare or crafted blood gloves (ideally the latter would be desirable but it's hard to find the *perfect* pair)
Belt - Thundergod's Vigor/Verdungo's Hearty Coil (two very good belts but I think that T-Gods edges out Verdungo's just on the basis of +3 to Lightning Fury)
Boots - Waterwalk/War Traveler/Gore Rider/Sandstorm Trek (yet again - WAY too many good options here; +dex or +str/+vit on various pairs, sick melee mods on Gore Riders, MF% and +damage on War Travelers)
As you can see...I need a lot of insight for my character. However, as of right now my skill/stat allocation is of more concern than the gear. My most urgent qualm with respect to gear is finding out what good bow/armor I can use until I get my ideal runewords. I suppose I would primarily be a javelin-user, but I'd like to have the bow be deadly as well...
I think this thread (http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=575622) should provide you with some hints (although it is more strafer oriented).
Your character doesn't have to be as expensive as you are making it here.
As for stat points, you need to find a balance between dex and vita I guess. Both strafe (with knockback) and LF (with its killing speed) are reasonably safe skills though, so don't go overboard with vita.

Ok - I'll check it out. I'm still wondering which mercenary route to go. I'm thinking of the using the Act 2 guy with holy freeze, but I use that with a lot of my other characters. Oh well - it's a great aura for anyone to have. Also, if I'm not pumping vitality as much, it'll be great to have the slowing effect.
