A5 merc 1pt smite/zealer

I recently found an eth Hellslayer @ lvl 87 does ~950 dmg, I was told in game that A5 mercs can use axes even though it only displays swords, does anyone know if this is true/tested this? Also, if not, what would be a good merc for this build, I only wanted to use him since I have the weapon and I don't really use a merc anyways, thanks.

There is no merc that can use an axe

In .09 patch some druids used eth hellslayer socketed with a zod, since then this was one of the weapons with the highest damage (except for bugged items). It was very slow however and still is. Nowadays I don't see any real use for it, unfortunately.

it does make a decent charger wep untill you get somethign better.
