View Full Version : Griswold Zealot still viable?
I have the complete Griswold set, empty of any runes/jewels. First of all, I have to say I have been away from D2, so forgive me if I am a little outdated.
I do love this set and also the Zeal/Fana combo. Is this still a decent choice, even though if others are more powerfull? Assuming it still is, what jewels or runes would you experts recommend to this pala? And I would ask you to assume I have all the items in the world, hehehe! I would say either 40/15 ed/ias jewels, but perhaps the weapon's base min/max damage is too low for that? Maybe ed/min or max damage or even just min or max jewels?
If anyone can help out, so I don't blow up a good set away, I would very much appreciate it.
Thanks!

40-15s are the ones you should be looking at. And also make sure you have enough resistance.

For PvM purposes the set should be just fine.
Yeah, this char is only for PvM and SC. That's why I will go with no DR. As for the resists, well I will check how I am in Hell and if I am not too good, I can use 1/2 sockets in the shield (with Um runes). According to what you said, I have to go check my old mules (still quite valuable) and trade for 40/15 ed/ias jewels then...
Thanks a lot!

Do not bother with ED/IAS jewels as you hit 4fpa without any additional IAS.
For sockets I suggest:
Weapon - Either 4 x OHM or 4 x 40/15max
Then for the rest make up the flaws in your character. FHR,RES,DR%, etc...
Ias jewels are indeed useless, you will hit 4 fps zeal as long as you have fanaticism on.
I can't bealive no one mention ber runes yet. 20% crushing blow helps alot in pvm.
Ed jewels doesn't help that much in a griss weapon where the base damage is allready low. Socet it with some kinda combination of Lo, Ber, ohm runes.
I would put there at least 2 ber runes, crushing blow makes bosses and other high life monsters die alot faster.

40/15max > Ohm iirc.
Ber is a very good idea but hitting at 4fpa I don't think more than two is necessary, I would even say one is sufficient.
Find a combo that works for you, that suits most of your needs and go with it, it depends alot on your other gear as well. Depending on glove, boot, belt & amulet selection the combinations may vary.
Thanks a lot to all of you who helped out!

Also think about socketing Lo rune in the weapon. 2x ber 2x Lo would probably work pretty well.

I just finished my Gris set and I was thinking of putting Ohm, Ber, Lo, Jah on the caddy. (this of course when the HR's go for 4 Hel's on the new ladder)

2x Ber 2x LO makes it look like a mini-Death.
IMO a frost zealer might be really nice with gris set. Got a lot of room for IAS jools + cold facets + bers for crushing blow.
But if you stick with the Fana route, you might want to go 2x LO 1x Ber and 1x Ohm in the weapon with a highlords and gores/goblintoe. But as for your other sockets, 30 max jools will do more damage for you than 40ED/9 str I think, because of your low weapon damage.
