View Full Version : Calling all hammerdin experts
im thinking of makeing an chaos only hammerdin without enigma with this gear:
Wizzy
Viper
Harle
+3 combat sk amu
Spirit
Mage Fists
Raven Frost
Dwarf Star
Nightsmoke (upped once)
Aldurs Boots
Naj's staff in swap (tele charges)
merc act3 (prolly cold):
Azurewrath (this is a must)
Viper
Spirit
+ random helm that helps him out to survive
charms will be filling out the resist (if needed), life, mana, r/w and fhr (if needed).
would he be able to solo hell cs in 8ppl game? im notverry expirienced with hammerdins (skill point lay out is quite simple) and thats why i need to ask if hes dmg will be high enugh..
I'll think he will do pretty fine. Last ladder I had a hammerdin that did fine. Only exception to your eq, I had Hoto, Zaka, chancies, goldwrap, war travelers and some rare rings and +2pala amu. I guess your char would do slightly lower damage, but you have faster casting, I had practically 0 (didn't reach any breakpoints). Your build could do better than mine
btw, is this for realms? So you could have torch and anni? If so, you'll do fine. In Single Player, I guess works also fine, not reached to chaos yet with my SP hammerdin.
what comes to merc helm, you might try to get some +skills, example shako for +2 since merc does benefit those skills
hope this helps,

You'll want to overstack your fire resistances in CS. Lots of kids get swarmed by the Infector seal and are destroyed by multiple infernos. Use whatever rune gives you 30% fire resist (Ral?) in your Vipermagi or go with an Um. Fire resist jewel or 15% all resist jewel in Wizardspike. If you can get 125% fcr with HOTO, go for it. Hotspur boots > all.
35% Spirit with a 40-45 base all res shield is good. Max block, obviously. String or Verdungo > Nightsmoke if you can get resists elsewhere. Damage to Mana is worthless against the power of Redemption. I'll post my ridiculous pre-reset hammerdin setup (Char name: Durable) at some point, I'm sure.
AmnLemKo Lawbringer > Azurewrath and useable at a much lower level.
Don't worry about damage. If you run your synergies right, you'll be fine. Properly set your hammer fields: cast cast cast, move 1.5cm southeast or southwest, cast cast cast cast, move 1.5cm southeast or southwest, cast cast cast, etc. and everything will fall.
Common thread, boatload of likely-useful information here (http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?p=5568585), plus Durable's build.
newly tought gear after posts:
Wizzy [Fire res jool (if needed stacked res)]
Viper [Shael or Ral (if needed to stack fire res)]
Peasant Crown/+3 combat sk cirlcet(?) [Shael or Ral (if needed to stack fire res)]
+3 combat sk amu
Spirit [40+ res shield with deacent block (with this setup fcr doesent matter)]
Mage Fists
Raven Frost
Dwarf Star
Strings/Verdungos
Hotspur
Naj's staff in swap (tele charges)
merc act3 (prolly cold):
Lawbringer
Viper [socet irrelevant atm]
Spirit (needs to be 30% fcr)
+ skills helm [socet irrelevant atm]
indeed this is for realms.. but the main thing is to keep it simple and cost efective (uber rws/zaka/tortch all are out). and other point (reason why harle got swaped out) is zero mf to get as many socetables as possible since cs has loads of monsters.
how does this look like now?
EDIT: forgot to add.. i alredy have 15% fire absorb from dwarf.. is stacked res really that mutch needed? aldurs boots has some fine stats on them..

Hmm, it looks good. I would still recommend chains of honor instead of viper, also if you are on a tight budget go for a crafted pally ammy with fcr, not a +3 pcomb. I would also highly suggest dual dwarf stars instead of ravenfrost since you don't need the dexterity (cuz u got holy shield) and AR since your hammers are magical dmg.

cohs are comeing from left and right at this point of the ladder..
also why would i got for fcr ammy since with that setup i alredy hit 125% (even with the worst fcr roll on a spirit)
you might be right on the dual dwarf.. that way i could definedly use aldurs boots.
hmm.. I wouldn't go dual dwarfs, Ravenfrost has amazing mod, Cannot Be Frozen. It can be frustrating to run when frozen, it could? I know it has no affect to you casting hammers, but since you ain't propably teleing a lot, running can be difficult.
I've managed pretty fine with Infector of Souls and I've never used hotspur or aldurs. Usually I just needed to drink one full reju pot, but it's not a big problem when those are usually dropped often in CS. You definitely could have maxed res with Wizzy, Viper and Spirit. 75@(wizzy)+30@(average magi)+40@(base palashield) = maxed res in hell (when anya quests are done). Yeah, I didn't count in yet res from spirit RW. Wanted to point out, you don't have to socket everything with Rals for more fire res, maxed res are easily achieved with Paladin. There is not so much issues with LR curse (OK's) or conviction aura, so I wouldn't stack all those resists so much.
What comes to your boots, that's pretty much what your after. Maybe Waterwalks? +15dex, +5max fire res, much life, but only 20frw. Infernostrides +10max fire res and fire res, but 20frw? Also Sandstorm Treks viable option, especially if you need fhr.
Just some thoughts

didint evne remeber the fire res on water walks.. those will be my boots since they give an stacked res (atleast some) and frw + usefull mods. dwarf will prolly take care of the rest little fire dmg.
also will definedly go for dwarf raven. that cbf was why i listed it there. mana/dex/cold sorb is just gravy
