Insight and +def aura

In order to use my gaze with my insight CV on my merc I used a Gris set armor for the +20 str. This worked out nice because I could use the 3 socs for ptop (its on my mf sorc). My question is, does the +2 def aura offered by the set armor apply to the meditation aura provided by insight? My guess is no, seeing as how the aura is not innate (in that it was given by an item).

Right, auras granted from items are not effected in anyway by +skills; furthermore the merc would not benifit from the +def auras, as mercs are not paladins.
