I've read in the guides that barbs should have around 15-16k ar. I am wondering how barbs get that much ar. I've got a lvl 89 barb with 2 raven frosts, arreats, dungos, ss, botdcb, gore, enig, and charms with ar and i am only getting around 12k ar. i want to know how people get that much ar without using angelic rings and ammy. any suggestions? is the 15k ar with 2 weapons?

Angelics
or
Ravens + Metalgrid
AR charms

Unless you're dueling you really don't need that much.

Hsarus boots and belt help with ar as well, if it's for pvm you should not bother getting that high ar really.

@how people get a lot of ar? charms - 3/20/20 or 20/36, ar/life grand charms, beast ba, hsarus belt + boots, angelics, demon limb enchant charges - there are plenty of ar sources in fact.

With two weapons you can wield a Beast Zerker which will give a fat AR boost from the aura. Metalgrid also works wonders for AR. However, 8k to 9k is fine for PvM, with the exception of Ubers, in which case a Metalgrid should do the trick.

so if i'm using a sword and shield it shouldn't be as high as 15k? or it's not needed as much? i also have another question, what is the max FHR you can have?

i also have another question, what is the max FHR you can have?

From the Strategy Compendium:

Barbarian FHR Breakpoints

FHR% / Frames
0%/9
7%/8
15%/7
27%/6
48%/5
86%/4
200%/3

So 200% is the maximum that will still do anything. More is just wasted.

By using a shield, you obviously won't be able to get it as high, because you're using an equipment slot on something that provides defense. With two weapons, that slot would be filled with a weapon that would likely give +AR or +AR%. So yes, generally speaking going sword+shield will give you a somewhat lower AR than going with two weapons.

However, as others have said, if you do mostly PvM, then you don't even need anywhere as high as you have. Any high level barbarian should have a lot of AR, but even if you wind up with say, 10k AR, you'll be more than fine. Keep in mind that there is a 95% cap on your chance to hit, so sometimes, pumping AR further can be wasteful in PvM. In PvP, other players have such high defenses that you need to squeeze every point you can out of your AR, but it's not nearly as important PvM.
