As the title suggests i hate being on NM i was pretty much rushed through normal with my assass but i did a lot of lvling in the cow level and am now level 49 in nightmare, yet i cannot kill the most basic of monsters. I constantly get my *** kicked and i lose experience, money and merc which costs me another 16,000 to re-hire. I'm thinking of just starting again as i cannot keep up with everyone else on nightmare as i pissed away alot of my skill points on martial arts crap i do not use. I was trying to make a hybrid assassin with both traps and martial arts, but i have **** defense, armor and weapons which only leaves me with traps, but the highest i have is level 16 fire sentries, which kinda suck *** as i was unaware how immune most monsters are to fire and it is too late to start over in lightning as it would be weak as piss. What do you think?

1. If you don't stop cursing, Gorny or Sommersky will kick your %&!@ until your §$%! comes out of your #*%§.

2. For having a chance beyond nightmare, you need a plan and often a well-filled stock of items. Just doing what comes to your mind and picking up what gets dropped by some monsters won'tl bring you anywhere beyond normal mode. We have forums foe each character class. Have a look into the sticked threads, they are full of guides for lots character builds.

for me, defense for an assassin isnt really all that much important
with life leech, cobra strike, and especially cloak of shadows, mind blast, merc and shadow warrior/master

what irritates me, is the lack of AR. i hate being unable to start up my charges and release my charges

One reason we all love Diablo so much is that it's one of those few games that have ratched up the difficulty high enough that it's still a challenge to fight Player vs. Monster battles ^_^. If you think nightmare is tough, just wait till you get to Hell difficulty (which you want to play in as that's where you'll get all the good items). If you've wasted half a dozen skill points or so on skills you don't use, then I'm afraid it's time to accept your current character as a great normal and nightmare mule and start fresh. If this is your first character, I might suggest something other than an assassin (or go strictly lightning trapper). Summonancers and Meteorb Sorcs make great first characters as they can kill effectively all the way through Hell. But I cannot emphasize enough that you should go to the necromancer and sorcerer strategy forums and follow the builds to the letter ^_^. Once you have a successful character or two under your belt, it'll be much easier to work on other builds. You can give them good items you found in Hell difficulty or rush them through tough parts with your other characters (either by switching your character in to kill the monsters on the way to a waypoint, or playing two CD keys at the same time by fast-switching on Windows XP - search about that if you're curious-it's fantastic!). Good luck!

I have a question, when I got to nightmare i can't see all the partys at normal anymore. Is there a way to se them again so I don't need to do baalrun on normal on my own if anyone doesn't join me?

after you complete a difficulty with a character you can not see the join games for the previous difficulty with that character. what you can do though is start another character and have them search for a normal game and then when you find one either remember that game name or select it and press ctrl+c (to copy the game name) and then exit that screen and come back in with the character that you want to join the game with and then either type in the name or press ctrl+v (to paste) and the press enter and you can join that game.

hope that wasnt to confusing!

Lessons learned: rushing = bad

Rushing = good.
You will just have to play in a party and there will be no problems.

Playing alone in NM with crap gear is obviously frustrating.

to add to that after you get rushed make sure you do runs like baal runs to lvl up if you intend to do some playing in NM solo. being at a higher lvl can make a big difference

All it takes is some semi-smart thinking, good choices in gear mix and decent playing strategy. I've solo'd over 12 different characters through nightmare now using only self found stuff. Admitedly, some of the self found stuff was passed down from my higher level characters... ;-) But not all of it. Make good use of all the gems and socketed items you find as you go. Don't be afraid to socket something and use it for a few levels, then ditch it when you find something better. Keep giving your merc better stuff as you go, especialy high defense, life leech and +life gear. Don't run around expecting to one-hit-kill everything in sight, use some strategy.
Reading build guides will save you tons of headache, but try to find PvM guides that are meant for playing "untwinked".
I generally find myself moving into NM at around level 22 with most characters, and though I have to slow down a bit at first, they generally level up pretty fast just questing.
