what is the best possible way to get an ist rune and is a pit run on NM still the same as doing Baal on NM. Also where is a good site for finding out drop rates on items.

The best way to get an Ist rune is rushing dummies to the hell act 4 Hellforge quest which offers a 1 in 11 chance for an Ist rune. Another possibility is doing hell Countess runs. Apart from that you can kill a few 100,000s of monsters in late nightmare and beyond.

Nightmare pits is a waste of time. Only in hell their area level is far beyond the typical area levels around.
