View Full Version : Questin regarding dual-wield 1-weapon attacking.
Let me explain the title:
I'm wondering what (if any) mods that transfer from the off-hand weapon if you attack with only your on hand weapon, like when you are using beserk, conc or feral rage if you are a wolf barb.
Example:
Weapon 1 is my on-hand weapon, when I use beserk it's only weapon 1 that is swinging. I am still holding weapon 2 as my off-hand weapon, now I wonder if that weapon(weapon 2) does anything at all to "improve" my beserk or if I should just stick with a shield 24/7.
The only mods I can think that have any purpose and do work are +skills and magic find.
You'd be better off with one big sword, held with two hands, or a sword/shield combo.
I suppose you would still get the benefit of any defensive mods the sword may have, but that wouldn't be balanced off by what you lose with a two-handed sword or a sword/shield combination. Also, the might aura from a LW would help, but iirc you are on SP and that would basically be a non-issue. Regardless, I would still think the other two options are better.
When considering aura's Lawbringer is about as good as it gets I guess.
Yeah, I could also see a 'beast' be a nice off-hander.
But as jme says I'm SP. I did actually not even think of using a 2-hander, but what suitable 2-handed swords are there?
Also would some of the 2-handers really shine out azurewrath or grief (if I would ever find a lo in sp )? Sure range would be higher, but would it really pay of damage wise?
spirit sheild? or any good sheild..I think we're just talking about +skills, oskills, and resist for your off-hand.
Was there a particular mod you had in mind?
1 combo I've seen that works pretty darn good, dual weilded PvM, is ebotdz +beastz. Skills - ww, zerk + war cry. WW with those 2 weapons is pretty devastating, plus ebotdz leach is awesome. Switching to zerk, you do get some benefits from beast, since it adds to the damage and attack rating of the ebotdz in your main hand. Furthemore, beast also adds increased attack speed to the ebotdz, which can help get you closer to the last breakpoint attack speed with zerk.
You do need War Cry with zerk however, since there is no shield, the stun provides added protection around packs of oblivion knights, for example.
edit:sorry zarfen, just noticed you were sp. so I guess that combo might be too hard to get for you.
You don't need warcry, you can also use howl.

Indeed
But I think I've gotten the answears I need, the only worthwhile off-hand think is aura-granting items, which I won't have :sad2:
I'm still looking for tips on good 2-handed swords or [mace class] weapons (I already noticed ribby ofc :wink3:)
twice upgraded steeldriver
(um, can you do that in SP?)
or a double-upped Bonesnap, if that generated with perfect 300% ED, that'd be some sick damage, no IAS tho.
twice upgraded steeldriver
It would have a mere 173 - 945 damage range if it was Ethereal.
or a double-upped Bonesnap, if that generated with perfect 300% ED, that'd be some sick damage, no IAS tho.
Again, the damage is nothing that great, 462 - 636.
For comparision, EBotd GPA at 355 - 981.
BotD in SP... right...
Nowhere did I suggest for the OP to use an EBotd GPA, I simply pointed out that the so-called "sick damage" wasn't so "sick".
I'm sure sick was used as a relative term. No need to point out the obvious.

Upgraded Crainte Vomir.
I think its the best 2-handed for a wolfBarb

By the way, I was under the impression that dual wielding in wolf-form was a horrible idea anway due to its negative effect on ias (no animation for it).
As for two handed weapons, I would say ribby and tomb reaver are by far your best bets in SP. Windhammer may also work well.
Oath (assuming RWM) in a nice big CB may also be nice (shael+pul+mal+lum).
30% Chance To Cast Level 20 Bone Spirit On Striking
Indestructible
+50% Increased Attack Speed
+210-340% Enhanced Damage (varies)
+75% Damage To Demons
+100 To Attack Rating Against Demons
Prevent Monster Heal
+10 To Energy
+10-15 Magic Absorb (varies)
Level 16 Heart Of Wolverine (20 Charges)
Level 17 Iron Golem (14 Charges)
Obedience in a polearm has a lot of nice mods and would possibly be a great choice, but lacks ias, which is a major pitfall. However, it is also cheaper. Hel + Ko + Thul + Eth + Fal
30% Chance To Cast Level 21 Enchant When You Kill An Enemy
40% Faster Hit Recovery
+370% Enhanced Damage
-25% Target Defense
Adds 3-14 Cold Damage 3 Second Duration (Normal)
-25% To Enemy Fire Resistance
40% Chance of Crushing Blow
+200-300 Defense (varies)
+10 To Strength
+10 To Dexterity
All Resistances +20-30 (varies)
Requirements -20%

About steeldrivers and bonesnaps. Imó the yare both absolutely great... to use as leveling weapons that is, when upped they can last a fair deal into and even trough nm.
I also am only looking for swords
About C V, it's a nice sword (had to look it up in the AS for a mind refresher of stats). However I cannot us it for reasons. So I'm guessing I'm just better ff with 1-h / shield at all times.
edit: @JME: I'm having my eyes in oath myself, it's a nice, cheap baby botd. I've also given up any ideas of dual-wielding :wink3:
