Since it said "temporary" you don't have a whole lot to worry about. You were probably muling too fast or entering/exiting games really quickly, like during very fast baal runs or mf runs over an extended period of time. The more you try to access your account during the temporary restriction the longer it will last. The best thing you can do at this point is take a break and come back in a few hours. If you hadn't tried to access it a lot directly afterwards, it would probably have only lasted 5-15 minutes tops.

This is an anti-botting method implemented by blizzard. If you were muling get someone to help you and take your time a bit more; try not to join and then immediately exit within a matter of seconds, especially if you need to come and go several times. If you were magic finding, add something else to your list of things to run. For example, if you were running only Pindle, add Meph, or andy, or mephy and andy, etc.

How can it be anti-bot when bots are the only ones *never* caught by this, except for the first logon after the "feature" was released?

Bots can be programmed to perfectly avoid the restrictions by adding one tenth of a second delays rigged after the specific time needed to wait betwee games.

Besides -- Bots will stil collect more items and faster than humans, seeing that bots never need any rest and can work with no water and no food. [/Terminator theme]

Actually, when it was first released, it eliminated a good partion of them botted hammerdins.

The whole anti-bot things means it prevents making games rapidly, meaning that for example baalbotting is impossible without tweaking it.

Bots can be programmed to perfectly avoid the restrictions by adding one tenth of a second delays rigged after the specific time needed to wait betwee games.

This is true, but at least they tried to do something. In the end, the people designing the bots are not exactly rookieprogrammers themselves. I would actually bet that most of them are pretty experienced in computer science and programming. So in the end it comes down to the single truth in reality: No one is perfect, ever. With that, you cannot expect them to ever be capable of completedly cutting away bots, there will always be a loophole somewhere. If the original programmer cannot find it, someone else will. And in the worst case, this someone is one of them botprogrammers, ready to exploit the loophole.

It's really funny how people either underestimate the programmers of the bots or overestimate the programmers at Blizzard. It could very well be that they are all equal or that the botprogrammers are even superior. Just because you work for a company like Blizzard does not mean you are the best in the world.

I'd say motivation is a key factor. Hackers have lots of motivation to hack, however, blizzard trying to patch up every hole every time a botter finds a new method to bot....well, that's sort of like a kid mashing ants in the driveway. That don't exactly stop coming and you start to ask, what's the point?

It's anti-server strain (which was mainly caused by the botting). If you were around for the 30 minute waits to create a single game, you'd understand.

I was around and I understand..

I was playing the game with my girlfriend and now I can't get on (I just tried after waiting about an hour, and I am still receiving the message). I read the official message posted here at Blizzard.com (http://www.blizzard.com/support/?id=adt0689p) and none of those reasons apply to me. This is rather annoying because I only have a few hours a week to play D2 with my girlfriend each week.

Had to vent, sorry.

This function is arch-annoying, I've gotten this message lots of times the last month and I've never had a bot on my hard drive/ used one on any account I've ever had. My friend and I were tristrunning when this bullsh*t struck us and now we have to wait an unknown period of time before continuing.

What the hell blizzard, why me?

I just got this message for the crime of

trying to finish act 2. I had just run andy and the countess and decided to do arcane too for some exp. I hit level 50 and decided to go ahead and try duiel. about half way through the tomb and i get a really bad case of lag.

screen eventually goes black and when it finally comes back I'm getting this stupid message.

I guess some bots will enter a game, kill the countess and Andariel then mess around in the arcane sanc for a while and fianlly head for duriel.

That must be it otherwise why would I get this message lol?

Yeah, I just got this too. Why are things like this always on nights when I have a few blessed hours of uninterrupted gaming? :weep:

I had just gotten a Ral rune to make my Leaf, and was trying to get the vendor to spawn a good 2 socketed Staff. I'm not sure what to do. I don't want to play tons of games with over 100k gold on me, and risk it on dying (my sorc has terrible gear, Leaf will be by far her best piece and that's why I was excited). But I don't want to use it on the +1 Warmth staff that is all I've found so far, either.

30 minutes.. vs 2 hour wait to log in.

Alright I will get the team on crunching those numbers!

The same here.. and the whole quickly joining/leaving games doesnt even seem to be an issue anymore. This has happened multiple times to me in the past couple weeks. Seeing as how I just started back its annoying. Im simply playing legit never have used a hack, I find that just plain stupid, "I WANT TO PLAY THE GAME" that I bought! The last couple of times it did this I was in a game over 30 min did andy/meph/eldritch/shenk/pindle/chaos and as i got to lord de seis's seal same spot it disconnected me twice! But yes the trying to log back in multiple time does create a issue I usually wait 10-15 min and im back up and running, still crap though if you ask me, seeing as how Im just playing the game I paid good money for, yes years ago but hell its grown into what it has become today = Diablo 3.

Ya this same thing just happened to me, I had some good stuff that was sitting on the ground when I was suddenly booted, and now I cant get back to it! So am I gonna lose this stuff? I assume so, all that I know is that I'm seriously ticked off about this temporary disconnect thing and I loss almost a whole complete set of armor because of it. It's just great that I find out the 20 3 min games rule AFTER I get booted and lose my stuff. Thanks alot blizzard.

Happened to me last night though I will say I was muling rather quickly. Luckily, I'd finished and didn't lose anything. I had a feeling any attempt to regain access would further the ban and so I just gave in and left for a few. Within 15 minutes I was back on. I don't run a bot, a cheat or anything else like most people here and yes, it's frustrating. I'll be more cognizant of my comings and goings from games here on out. I DO wish they would be mindful of the legit players that they're restricting though.

I got a temp ban while trading stuff... Hopping from trade game to trade game etc.

My bans have only lasted for 10-20 mins or so... I tend to play Single player during this time to keep in the Diablo-mood :coffee:

EDIT: ok... banned for third time because of swapping games too fast has lasted now over 6 hours. This sucks.

I got hit by this bug/feature yesterday. Second time this happen to me.

That's when it struck me. Everytime I leave a game, there's always a "Please Wait/ok" prompt pop up. It's wise to wait for the prompt to go away itself rather than hit ESC/click ok to quickly goto character selection screen.

A good way to avoid tempbans is to wait a few seconds between steps when trying to enter and exit a game. This usually reduces the amount of tempbans a lot. And next to that: try to use keybord shortcuts for your spells instead of using the scrollbutton on your mouse. The more you scroll, the more you'll get tempbanned.

And as some has already said. If you get a tempban, wait 10 minutes and try to login again. Works most of the time. Don't panic when you get a Tempban, just be patient.

This temp ban thing just lost me 6 hrs... i mean come on bnet don't u think u should be trying to stop the people that dupe stuff and have them poof when they trade it away instead of "trying" to ban botters. O and btw the bots are still there... fail on your part.

(i know this is not bnet but i had to vent somewhere XD)
