View Full Version : Spare points
Ok making a blizzard sorc, and just wondering what I should do with the extra skill points later on. I will of course max out blizz & all synergies, put a point into static, warmth, tele, and any prereqs.
This doesn't really leave me with many spare pts to make another skill useful. Right now I got only 1 pt in cold mastery, which of course I'll up, but should put all of them there, or just put a few & let +skills carry it into 100 since that should be sufficient. Orrrrrr should I put my spare points into shiver armor (one I'll be using) for added def, after putting some into cold mas?
She's for mfing btw =P

Its a single tree Blizzard sorc. No skillpoints apart from 1pt wonders should go into another tree. Max cold mastery. This will push the damage you can do through the roof. Of course you will get some problems with cold immunes. But you can always teleport past them to get to Mephisto in Hell and Pindleskin. The Blizzard Sorceress is either for MFing or for PvP. You might need some help in games to get past some points to be able to MF in Hell, but thats about it.
Shiver armor is a 1pt wonder. The added def will be rather useless. What you are looking for in Shiver armor is the fact, that it chills monsters when they decide to attack and not when they hit you. You can put 1pt in Chilling armor and play around with that. Otherwise max Blizzard with all synergies AND Cold mastery! Mephisto will die like a fly :)

You won't have enough points for all synergies plus Cold Mastery.

Good point indeed. So rephrased: Max Cold Mastery, Iceblast, Glacial Spike and Blizzard. The rest into Icebolt.
You won't have enough points for all synergies plus Cold Mastery.
Unless I'm missing something, it is possible to max all Blizzard synergies and Cold Mastery.
Blizz, Mastery, Spike, Ice Bolt, Ice Blast = 100 Points
Frost Nova, Static, Telek, Teleport, Warmth, Frozen/Shiver Armor = 7 Points
Do-able at Level 96. :P

From lvl92 upwards lvling starts beiing a real pain. Of course its achieveable, but i think you are not seeing the timeframe here. It will take long to get there, very long :) But at lvl90-91 you will be close to finish if you have Cold Mastery maxed and just a few points left to put in Icebolt.
Just remember that with +skills included you do not need more than slvl 32 Cold Mastery. Anything above that is wasted, since no monsters have higher cold resistance :)

If you had really managed to get that high, and completed all the Blizzard synergies + Cold Mastery, it may be worth investing in Frozen Orb, which is a synergy for Ice Blast and Glacial Spike
Ok thanks guys for the help =D. I'll be maxing cm, blizz, ice blast, and glacial spike.
Quick question though: Why glacial over ice bolt? Ice bolt gives more damage to blast, whereas glacial just increases the freeze length.
My guess to this is cause glacial spike is good crowd control spell (area effect) and that the loss in damage isn't that great with max glacial spike instead (I decide my builds on 100 pts, and with that I'd have 13 to bolt).

I prefer the freeze of Glacial spike over the damage of Bolt/Blast; once monsters are frozen Blizzard takes care of them properly.
Pretty much what you suggest yourself; Glacial as quick-response on left button and Blizzard on right (switching with Teleport).
