My player is gone...........help please

Ok......(deep breath)......been player D2 LOD for some time now........currently on nightmare level going back and forth doing Meph and Frozen Highlands runs. My character is a lvl 72 Barbarian. Today was going back and forth killing bosses and such when I died. When I exited out of the game and then back into it............my character was completely gone. At the start screen where you choose your character....my character never showed. WTF? Checked the harddrive under the Save folder in D2 LOD and I can see my players name with the following extentions:

Conan.d2s
Conan.key
Conan.ma0
Conan.ma1
Conan.ma2
Conan.ma3
Conan.map

Am I missing files at this point or what? Dont really want to touch something if its a matter of renaming a file or so. Or am I just doomed to start over. That would be a major bummer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Again when I start D2 LOD....there is not character to select and my character on the screen doesnt appear. At the select screen the only option I have appears to create a new character. Also Im patched to ver 1.11b. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all.

.....sorry forgot to add if it matter. I was in single player mode. Dont use editors or hacks. When I died.......I didnt "esc" out of the game.......I actually rebooted the whole computer. Reason was it was running like a snail at the time I was fighting and got swarmed.

since you didnt 'save and exit' or alt+f4 when he died, your char should still be on the list, and reverted back to where you last exited the game

try downloading ATMA (http://atma.diabloii.net/), sp muling program, and see if that can fix him

the only way sp chars cannot be listed is when bringing them back to previous vers of the game, ex, a 1.11b char being opeded with 1.09
