I just got back into playing d2:lod after taking like 2 years off, and i wanna know if it would make more sense on a fireball/met sorc to max firebolt first, then ball, then meteor and finalize with mastery? or what would be that optimal build? or does it even matter how you build it out?

The order really doesn't much matter, but the exact answer to your question would depend on your gear (i.e. how many +skills and how much enhanced fire skill damage you have) and what fire spell you'd use most often.
