View Full Version : Okay, so here's my problem
I haven't played D2 in years, but I got a hankerin' this afternoon. I logged on to the site and read about a ladder reset. I'm thinking: cool, I can get in for a fresh, new season. The problem is this: The CD ROM drive on my laptop is shot, but I really want to play some LoD. Do I have any options aside from paying to fix my laptop?
Thanks for any and all help.

Store an image of your CD-ROm in the HD and read from it
I tried that and it still said to make sure the disc is in the drive and retry.
guess I'm stuck. :sad2:
Are you sure it's the drive?

you have to mount the image on the virtual drive in order to work.
To make sure you did it right , it must show you another drive with the diablo shortcut in it when you press 'my computer' in order to view your drives
use daemon tools and turn options on
(am I allowed to mention this?)
I have the image mounted and it shows up on the 'My Computer' window, but when I choose to play the game, it still displays the same error message. Not sure what else I can do. Thanks anyway for trying to help guys. :)

Fire up RegEdit and make sure the value for DiabloIICD is the virtual drive. By default it uses the drive it was installed from. Hope this helps.
RegEdit verified that the install drive is the same as the one currently being used to load it. Still no go.

It is very weird indeed . Are you sure that the mounted cd is the expansion disk?
Could you have mounted a wrong diablo ii cd?
That is the only thing that comes to my mind now . :(
Yep the LoD disk is currently mounted. Its weird stuff. I've never had a problem with Daemon before.
Diablo II will not allow you to play off of a virtual disc. You'll need a that-which-can-not-be-named to fix that problem.
Ah yes. I asked my uncle Voldemort and he fixed it right up. Many thanks.
