viable archmage with es?

so with the ladder resetting I'm trying to figure out what type of sorc I want to make. I was thinking about maybe a pure es/nova sorc or an es/firewall build. Then I was reading the archmage stickies and I've always wanted to make one. So I was wondering if anyone ever made a viable one with ES. Going enough str for items and then dumping the rest of your points into energy. What if I took the sorc to 99? would i have enough pts for 20 telekenisis, 15+ es, then maybe firewall, orb, nova? Would it be viable to do base vit without a maxed out es? maybe i'm just trying to have it all heh, let me know what you guys think.

I have a non-ES tri-elementalist and the points were very tight. Don't forget you need points in the masteries too.

ya I was trying to mess around with a skill calculator and it seemed hard to get a decent boost in dmg without being able to pump synergies or masteries really. I could see doing just telek and like 1 pt in es but then I don't think I could go with a base dex and vit. hmm

I'd say, get some ES with some TK support. Archmages are those that survive by using many skills. Examples from one build: Fireball, Meteor, Charged Bolt, Lightning, Chain Lightning, Telekinesis, Frozen Orb.

Your damage is not that high with just each singel spell, but the combination makes you a viable killer just as well. On that premise, try to add so ES and see how it figures out.

The Cold and Fire tree together will cost about 50 points together as a bare minimum. That leaves you about 50 (for level 90) points for the ligtning tree. Now the lightning tree doesn't have a skill like Firewall or Frozen Orb, which makes it really difficult to get a decent lightning spell if you are going to invest heavily in TK.

That was the best I could figure. Without any point in ES, using Memory to cast it. Completes at level 82. I'd say viable, not efficient at all. Down side is, you only get one spammable spell - Nova, which doesn't do spooky damage. Nova is also very mana consuming, but since you're using ES, you may want to put plenty in Energy to have large mana pool any way.
