I have read the threads on suggested sorceress builds, and I have been wracking my brain all day trying to decide which one to build. It seems cold sorcesses are the most popular so far. Either Blizz or Orb they say. Even Orb/FW is appearing.

I want a PvP sorc that can still mf well. Before ladder reset I had Blizzard and Meteorb sorcs.

I was thinking of being original and making a Hydra/Orb build. Or, I am leaning towards an ES/Orb or ES/CB build.

What do you suggest? Maybe my dreams of PvP and mf can't be a reality.

pure fb sorcs can run meph quite well, and they arent too bad a pvp either. in fact, unless u want to run the pit or something, id say go w/ a single element sorc so u can do meph fast.

my last sorc was a tals pure fb sorc. obviously she wasnt that good in pvp, but she could do meph quite quickly. if she had had torch, anni, fire gcs and cta i think that she would have been alot better at pvp. not as good as a dedicated pvp sorc, but better than typical noob trash.

I'm just going with a Blizz sorc using the DisposaSorc stat guide (only item I'll need is Whistan's for max block). Then whatever I find will end up deciding what my next char is.

EDIT
Just go either Blizz or Orb, Orb would be easy for leveling/rushing and Blizz for mfing. (I see it that way)

One of the best pieces of advice I can give is that choose complimentary occupations for your Sorceress, mf and pvp don't go well together and in the end all you'll do is end up making a mish mash that is not optimised for either one. Since the ladder is resetting, I would make an mf sorc first, and then go pvp. Making two sorceresses isn't going to take too long and it will save a lot of item switching later on (which can be a pain, especially if you actually want space to hold what you find from your runs).

How about using chilling armor instead of max block ? There's thread somwhere which prove it deflects enemy bolts.

I'm not a "big" sorc guy, so I feel like going the max block route is best for me. Plus I won't have a whole lot of points spare.

I think that is good advice, and I'll stick to mfin atm.

Do you think a Hydra/FB sorc will be good for mfing? I know previous posters said FB is a good mf build. To make FB strongest I'd have to max Meteor, Fire Bolt, Fire Ball, and Fire Mastery. So would Fire Ball be useful still with Hydra (since Meteor is not a synergy of Hydra)?

True, chilling armour does deflect missile attacks 'on occasion'. The last bit is important. Max block is going to prevent 75% of the blockable attacks whereas chilling armour is not going to do nearly this much, especially with only one point. There are other reasons to not go max block however, spirit being the main one. I would be wary of assuming that chilling armour is going to replace max block. IIRC the chilling armour in the youtube video was level 44 fully synergised with the other armours and not many people are likely to place their points here!

P.S. chilling armour is still not understood properly (at least I'm still not 100% certain about some of its characteristics) and block can be used on melee attacks too so there is always that major advantage too :wink3:

Although I admit I do not understand how c.armor exactly works, its only 1 point more than shiver armor. I'm sure I will go vit for reasons you mentioned, however I'm scared of skeleton archer hordes on hell :undecided:

i allways spend 1 point in chilling because its handy in some situations.. and what raver said about orb being more of a rush skill, i allways put one point in forb even if im pure blizzer because maxed ice bolt and +skills makes it destroy everything in normal and nm stages pretty fast.. and on hell, well forb doesnt do anything there :D
edit: i mean comared to blizzard

Any thoughts on the viability of Hydra vs Meteor in MFing? Obviously Maxing Meteor is higher damage and a synergy to Fireball. However, I had a Meteorb Sorc before the ladder reset and I want to spam Hydras for fun now, but don't want to do it at cost of killing speed.

Against meph it won't be THAT much slower. You can drop a hydra on meph just the same as with a meteor, spam a few fireballs and then drop another one. Your damage will gradually build up as you have more and mroe hydras out. It's also safer for general play than meteor/fball, and imo much more fun.

For the new ladder Blizz sorc is definitely the best to farm Hell Meph and Andy. Does not depend on Infinity, which allows her to use Insight as end-game merc weapon and never have Mana issues.

I was stubborn and made a pure Light sorc instead... lol. I find them more enjoyable to play.

Once again, how the hell does a blizz sorc deal with the cold immunes in say, the pit, or in A5?
