Blizz Sorc How Much in Cold Mastery Pvm?

I'm going to run ladder with a pure blizz sorc. I was always under the impression that cold mastery needed to be about 18 with skills for pvm but i have been seeing guides that say max it. I would like to know if its worth it to max and if not how much do i really need.

I would go ahead and max it, +skills or not. You can't pierce your enemy's resists too much, unless you manage to take them down to -100%. More than that would be 'too much', since it won't apply. But aside from that, the more you reduce their resists, the better.

Especially if this is going to be a character on the new Ladder. +Skills gear will be kinda tricky to come by at first, so there's definitely no downside in maxing it.

I take it that you are planning to run NM/hell Meph, since its pure blizzard, so I would definately suggest maxing cold mastery. For a start, +skills gear is going to be hard to come by on early ladder like FrankWest said, and also if you plan to mf its unlikely that you will have many +skills on your early mf gear. This should help you kill Meph quicker.

There is an ideal balance between synergies and points in cold mastery, but since I planned to max out everything, I just ended up saving my points and maxing cold mastery and blizzard simultaneously and then maxing out synergies (probably not the best plan as in normal and nm cm with 1 and +skills is effective but since I had mana issues I thought it best to have a low level glacial spike to freeze with and then melee). This meant that each point into a synergy was a really obvious boost later on though.

Either way you are unlikey to have more than +12 to skills in mf gear which would give you lvl 32 cm which is the max you need for hell meph.

Ok if I'm going to max Cold Mastery when should i max it. I usually max glacial spike last of the synergies. Should i max that first or cold mastery.

I've never used glacial on a sorc. But blast is my spam spell.
