The reset is on June 25th. It's my first reset, way back when I joined just after one acting on the advice of a friend, so this'll be my first ladder reset. I wanna create a bliz sorc for MFing on the new ladder. However, I am not sure about stats and attributes because there will be no items to trade for/ find for a while, until the economy fills up and my char finds the gear she needs.
Therefore, without good items available, a) do I put points into energy? b) As a blizz sorc do I need max block for PvM? Also, c) what should be skill points be; max bliz, cold mastery, glacial spike, and synergies?
The guides I've read from the sticky are what I'm following, but do the rules change because there is a completely new ladder?

Just do the usual skill distribution. You can safely go without energy. You will be getting some cheap runewords easily, like "Spirit" sword and others, that will help you along. As you might not be getting a decent blocking shield to fast, you might be on the safer said to go the vitality route with your first build.
20 Iceblast
20 Glacial Spike
20 Blizzard
20 Cold Mastery
Rest into Icebolt...
Not much you can do wrong with your Basic Blizz Sorc MFer.
Sorceresses have it hard the day or two after reset, because we're basically walking around whacking monsters with leaf staves. It's tempting to pump energy a bit so you're not spending your life savings on mana pots, but you'll be far happier in the long run if you can handle Normal difficulty as a latcher-on in some party with barbs and paladins.
Your day will come!

Sounds good. I have a duo set up, me and another person wants to do a lite sorc. Hopefully the both of us can take care of things sufficiently.

Playing as a duo, both with focus on one elemental skill tree is a fun way to start. Did that on last ladder with 3 sorceresses though. All elements covered, pure power and carnage :)
