Question about CL, And rate this build.

Ok, Chain lightning can hit up to howver many targets you have the skill up to. So say it can hit 9 targets. If there is only one target on the screen will it get hit with ALL 9 bolts? Meaning one target could take like 10k damage alone?

Also if that formula works. Then you could technically change around the meteorb build. Stay with the fire tree but instead of cold go with lightning. Cause this way you also get more points. Cause to get down to frozen orb and cold master you have to spend alot of 1 points to get down there. To get down to CL and LM you dont have to spend as many points. So those extra few points could go into another synergy making stuff even stronger.

I have a meterob sorc right now on the ladder but the ladder is reseting so I wanted to try something kinda new but also still viable in hell.

20 Chain lightning
20 lightning mastery
20 fireball
20 meteor
20 fire mastery
What do you guys think of that build?
of course you would have 1 warmth, 1 telekinesis, 1 teleport, 1 charge bolt, 1 lightning, 1 firebolt
So this build would need 106 points.

Yes it will hit 9 times if there are at least 2 targets, then the CL jumps between them.

But if theres only 1, it will only get hit once. So you need at least a second person to keep the chain going, otehrwise it's just straight up lightning.

Lol, i wouldnt say 10k för nine targets. More like 50k+

meteor dmg: ~4600-4900
FB dmg: ~2000-2300
CL dmg: ~4-1100

So I think the CL is totally useless except for dealing with immunes, and they will still be a pain.

Even with +skills the damage will not be enough, since you have no synergies to Chain Lightning.

It would be better if you placed like 10-15 points in Lighting, 5-10 pts in Chain Lightning and 20 into Lightning Mastery. Than you could also use Lightning besides Chain Lightning for single fire immune monsters.

Even with those prereqs it is still cheaper to go FO.

Here you are spending 40+ points in the lightning tree but FO costs only 26-35 points. (you don't need to pump CM and even if you want to you don't need it to get above lvl 17 with +skills.)

In the end all you get is a weak lightning spell and you have even weakened your fire tree because of it.
