cant get on d2(help plzz)

well i installed Classic d2, didnt want to install lod, and the installation was a success, but when i click the d2 icon or try to open it. the screnn goes black then it juss takes me back to the desktop. can any1 help here?

-by the way its windows xp
-theres no error messages it juss exits
-what do i do :(

2. run D2VidTst.exe, select ddraw(2d)
