Whats the best meatshield for a pure lightening trappsin to hide behind when fighting baal/D/mephy etc. I'm building a lightening 'sin with about 40 in lightening traps and a handfull in Fade. Should I put some into a shadow master/warrior? Or just get a good merc with a runeword weapon/armor for auras? I'm concerned only about lightening immunes and ubers.
Also, how do you guys think this build would hold up to hell D/Baal/Mephy and the Ubers? I'll have max hell resists and about 1-16k (i think) dmg per trap.
Thanks for the advice, I've been out of the game since 1.10 launched and have zero experience with ubers/uber trist.
A trapsin has no chance against the ubers. Their resistances are too high to kill them with lightning damage.
Shadow Warrior with Fade is one of the best meat shields in the game, just stay away from the Shadow Master, since she has an annoying habit of teleporting away from the monster's she's tanking or disappearing at random times.
I do agree that Trapsins would have their work cut out against the Ubers. I really don't think there's *ANY* meat shield that can survive in there for any length of time.

Do shadow warriors cast the same traps as you do? Or do the melee?
Also, I wouldn't be trying to solo the ubers, but trying it with some friends. I thought that even at 75% resists, my 16k traps with 5 casted at a time would help at least a little.

edit: I meant 95 resist.

upon further research, I've decided upon a Nightmare Act 2 Merc with the freeze aura, using an Infinity runeword axe.
The constant level 12 conviction aura granted by the axe will lower resistances by 55%, plus the axe itself gives -55% lightening resist. On top of that, it has "prevent monster heal," which... if I understand right, would keep the ubers from regaining lost HP. Am I missing something here or is this almost too good to be true?
Mercs are very difficult to keep alive in ubertrist. You will have to have a plan that doesn't rely on a merc.
DTalon is the attack against ubers for an Assassin.

Just to mention, the -LR on Infinity only applies if you are wear it yourself. Also, the -LR would still not work since traps are considered minions for the most part and therefore not boosted by the -LR mods or +Light damage mods. IIRC, a level 12 Conviction lowers 85, not 55, and will also not override Mephy's level 20 Conviction. The 40% Crushing Blow though is your most helpful mod on it for Uber's.
But, just to point out, while he made be good for general PvM, he wont last long in Uber Trist unless there is another tank there to help, which shouldn't be the problem if you are doing Uber's with friends. The best merc I think that can survive is one who has CoH, BoTD, and maybe Vampire Gaze on him, and of course, life tap helps.
Oh, and I believe PMH doesn't work on Uber's, and also never works on Merc's. So you either need a way to supply poison of some sort, or Open Wounds.
In the end, you will be supplying support for the most part probably, and your traps will probably just be clearing away any minions around while you cast CoS or Mind Blast.

Thanks for the input.
Apparently I'm going to be pretty much useless in Uber Tristram... lol
Oh well. I should be able to solo the rest of the game with relative ease... right? :S

Yes, a Trapsin with even moderate gear can easily solo the entire game with an Infinity Merc.
You can be helpful, just know what to do and what they want you to do. Keep CoS going for the blind effect and -Def (careful though, it may override life tap, I'm not sure on that one), and you traps will help clear the minions fast enough, and you can use Mind Blast for the convert and stun. Most importantly, don't run around like an idiot stirring everything up and you will be good.
Ubers are probably the only area in the game you won't be able to solo as a pure trapsin.

Like AgentMarth said, most elemetals are pretty useless against the ubers. Even the ever-so-popular hammerdins have trouble with ubers and cannot usually clear them on their own due to magic resistances. Team up with some friends, especially if they have a good smiter and if you really want a teammate to help support you, you can even get a good bone and poison necro to help out with their lower resists to help clear out the garbage so your smiter friend or charge friend can concentrate on the ubers. Best of luck!
A necro that can cast life tap also makes a good edition if you don't have the items that have a chance to cast life tap or a life tap wand with charges on it.
