View Full Version : Open wounds in 1.11b + Fade and OW
Hey,
I am looking for confirmation about the following:
http://www.theamazonbasin.com/d2/forums/index.php?showtopic=72648
According to this link, OW damage has become higher and Fade reduces OW duration.
Thanks, Moe

It's against diabloii.net policy to link to competeing forums. That said, I wouldn't wager against the AB.
I'm definitely not an expert on OW. But I've generally found the AB quite trustworthy. And I believe Nefarious (whom that article quotes as their source) is rather famous for his D2 reverse-engineering work. So I'm inclined to believe what they're saying.

I'm not sure about the increase OW damage, but I makes pretty logical sense that OW would be treated like a curse and thus have it's length decreased by Fade.

Heh, sorry but I thought that AB was fine. I wouldnt have post a link from the ''blue'' forums, but ... :(
Tried to edit, but it's too late now as it seems.
Thanks for answers again. I'll test that fade thing out in bnet.

I've seen links directed there before, without issue. At least it's a reputable site. (Just a heads-up, I'm going to ask a Mod for clarification on this and point them here - just in case. It'd be nice to have clarification on whether AB is acceptable, or past instances of links to there being allowed have been oversights.)
At the original question, yes, that information is correct. You should test your own results, naturally, but in everything I've seen - that seems to be the case. OW has become more effective with a steeper DPS curve for higher clvls, and Fade reduces the duration of it.

Linking to AB is definitely against forum policy. General forum policy is that it's against the rules to link to "competitors", with "competitor" being defined as anyone that gives information that is available at Dii.net, as well as anyone with a Diablo-related forum. Since the AB *IS* a Diablo-related forum, it's a competitor, and therefore a no-no.

I can't really call bleeding a curse. The problem is that the stat Fade uses for curse length reduction is affecting some states that don't have anything to do with curses.
The OW dmg change might not even be intentional, with the change of compiler settings according to anyone code reading.

That has to be the dumbest rule here. I guess we can't link the the Arreat Summit then either. :lipsrsealed:

That's odd, I've linked to the Arreat Summit multiple times in the past without any problems.

Hrm... well, I hit the little red exclamation point last night, but nothing yet. It's very possible that I've just cried wolf so many times, they don't even notice it anymore.
Anyway, yeah, back on topic: Fade will reduce pretty much anything that acts even remotely like a curse. Shrines, of course, curses, OW affects, that sort of thing. I don't know how the game defines a 'curse', but it definitely seems to be a very blanket description for the things which Fade affects.
