how much dext for max block

how do i know how much dext i need for max block? all the guides say i need enough dext for max block. is there an equation? im currently running a character based off the 1pt smiter build.

i think with ahoz you need a little over 100.. depends on what shield you are usiing

it will depend on what shield u are using as well as the rest of ur gear, listing that would help out a lot.

sanc and exile u will need to provide base shields as all pally shields have differ % of blocking.

Weapon: Grief phase blade. The absolute king of melee. Sick damage both for zeal and smite. Stats are irrelevant, all grief phase blades hit max speed and even the lowest roll will be devastating.

Guillaume’s face helm,
gore rider boots,
dracul’s grasp gloves.

Armor: Fortitude. Damage, defense, life, resists. All the wanted mods in one item.
Belt could be t-gods/credendum/ik etc.
Shield. Sanctuary , a good roll here, 100+ all res, in a nice elite paladin shield.
Amulet. Metalgrid (or rare with resists,or mara’s)
Ravenfrost+ a rare with resists/leech etc.

^^ thats what im aiming for. cept i have heavens light scepter and spirit shield with 54% blockage. so about what dext we talking about

There are a lot of facotrs to calculate block, which is why no one says "42dex" or "234dex". Even your level determines your block %.

The forumala is Block% = [blocking_Items+holy_shield (DXT-15)] / 2 x charLvL

So based on a 55% block, a level 80(just a guess) with 20HS would need:
75=[55+35 (DXT-15)] / 2 x 80
75=[90 x (D-15)] / 160
d-15=75 x 160/90
d-15= 133.3
dex needed = 149.

Just hover your mouse pointer over your defense score in the Lying Character Screen and it will tell you your chance to block. Add dexterity until it reaches 75% (maximum). Make sure Holy Shield is active when you check though.

Each time you level up, you'll need to add 1-2 points of dexterity to maintain maximum block.
