White runeword Wand

Okay so I need help constructing my first runeword since i've never done it before and I don't wanna mess it up.

I have the two runes I need. Dol and Io

I need a wand, so here are my questions:

1- If the wand is a plain wand and I use the Act 5 quest to socket it twice will that work? Can i put the two runes in it to make it a runeword?

2- I want the wand to originally have +3 bone spear, and if question one works capability of two sockets. Which wands are capable of two sockets? I know some can only have one.

3- Where's the best place for nonmagical wands to drop? I have no idea where to look.

Also, not relating to this too much, where do 3 socket mageplates drop?

If someone can please help me with all this I'd really appreciate it. Thanks ^_^

1) you can only use the socket quest on an item once. The # of sockets depends on where you got the item from, you might want to wait for professional help with the intricacies....
2) I would check at battle.net/diablo2exp/items and just check the wand by itself and see how many sockets it can have
3) Hell Pits is popular, easy to do and lot of monsters. Another favorite is Chaos sanctuary and WSK

There are no real locations where things drop or don't drop, but I think theres a calculator (ATMAs?) that has the likelihood of something dropping from a specific location (also might want pro help on this, never used ATMAs myself)

to mf for white/os items use as little mf as possible, more mf raises the chances of a drop to be magic/rare/set/unique

back to results, looks like

normal act3 for bone wand, might not have good automods on it tho
nm cows for petrified, tomb or grave wands, should have better automods
hell cows would have the best chances to drop a nice elite one

From looking on http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/items/exceptional/wands.shtml burnt wands, normal wands and yew wands can only get 1soc. In most other cases it woould always get the max 2soc from the quest, or you could risk using the cube rescipe as there is only a 1/6 chance of getting 1 socket.

You can shop a normal +3 bonespear bone wand from Drognan (normal difficulty, act 2). These get 2 sockets when using the quest and are ideal for White. Again, the base type must be 'Bone wand'.

As you can see in the list, wands always get their max amount of sockets with Larzuk.

That list also shows a few wands which can have only one socket.
