Anybody have any experience in growing onions from seeds? The onions I left in the ground last year have bloomed and I'm thinking I'll harvest the seeds for next year.

I don't even know where the seeds come from. I just vaguely remember pressing them into the ground out of the packet, watering occasionally and then pulling them up months later.

Why don't you just chuck some onions in the ground again?

The seedy part. :unimpressed:

Smeg: Take a look at links like these:

http://plantanswers.tamu.edu/publications/onions/oniongro.html
http://www.ipm.iastate.edu/ipm/hortnews/2000/4-7-2000/growonions.html

As the last one says, "Growing onions from seed may be the most difficult planting method. However, it is the least expensive."

Leeks for the win. They look cooler and taste better.

Plus, leeks have this. (http://www.leekspin.com/)
