Alright, so I'm starting a 2-handed Zeal/Charge paladin in SP, and I'm wondering if these mods would actually be helpful rather than annoying, since I won't be using a shield. (Weapon will be Crainte Vomir, if that has any effect on your response)
-Knockback
-Hit Causes Monster to Flee
Anything else I should try looking for? (besides the standard life leech, defense, DR, etc you see on every melee character)
I'm the kind of person who likes to keep hitting things until they are dead... so I know knockback and HCMTF would annoy the life out of me! :P
Knockback I think might not be so bad. If you have a long weapon and are using Zeal, you may be able to keep the monsters at arm's length.
HCMTF is probably a really bad idea in Hell... you hit them and do some damage. They run away, regenerate for a while and return fully recharged.
I haven't fully tried either idea though so I can't say how good or bad they are.

Kncokback is fine. Monster flee is irritating. Crainte vomir doesnt do enough damage even in pvm either.

Nice thought on the HCMTF, Lanceor.

Crainte Vomir will be upgraded by endgame.

Yeah, but even an eth one won;t really do near enough damage to efficiently compete with runewords at endgame. It is a good weap though.

Well what would do enough damage, then? I can't really obtain any of the uber runewords since I'm in SP, so here's the list of 2-handers that I DO have.
-Crainte Vomir
-The Impaler
-Todesfaelle Flamme
-Spire of Honor
-Boneslayer Blade
-Ribcracker
-Immortal King's Stone Crusher
-Steeldriver
-Bonesnap
-Pierre Tombale Couant
-The Minotaur
-The Gavel of Pain

Upped Crainte Vomir is definitely Hell Viable, but I notice Ribcracker on that list. Upgrade Ribcracker and you have yourself a SUPERDUPERUBER weapon. Seriously, Upped Ribcracker is one of the most powerful weapons in the entire game, and it has a lot of defensive mods to help you out, to boot.
Also, as far as defense on a 2-handed pally... Conversion. Learn it, Use it, Love it. If you convert a couple of monsters, then half of the crowd will be attacking your new friends and leaving you alone. Really makes a big difference in survivability- it's almost like having your own little minions.

I was thinking of Ribcracker, but I was somewhat deterred by the slower hit recovery that Paladins get while using staves.
As for Conversion, I'm planning of sinking a few points in there. What level would you recommend boosting it to?
