just wondering what some of your best finds were. ty for your time
The best thing ive found there is marrowwalk, in the 150-200ish runs ive made in total. Though i usually have very little mf! Then again, yesterday i found a shako at tamoe highland on the way to pit, so you never know :P
3 griffons comes to mind  . A gul rune, wisp, lotsa socketables, templars might are also worth mentioning.
In lvl 85 areas in general I have found a lot of the less useful TC87 items (like templar's might). In the pit under Tamoe Highlands I have found 2-3 of Templar's Might, and a LOT of great socketables. (15%ED 4s ethereal Great Poleaxe is probably my best find there).
I found many nice socketable items there (I don't usually run with much mf)
When I was leveling my liberator I had some more mf (eni + shako) and I found a griffon's eye, later I found death's fathom with my 30mf nova sorceress. I think I did more than 200 pit runs but not more than 500.
If you char is strong enough for it, it is worthwile to run the pits in games with a lot of people in it (baal runs or so)

Yes, absolutely. TC-85 with the drop quantities of an eight player game is definitely worth it. The unique monsters there will usually drop at least one more item each.

Best unique finds with low mf were Leviathan and Ariocs Needle, with no MF a 4os Archon Plate.
Sorry for the OT, but ZRK...what the HELL is that avatar??

i have found during tha last couple weeks that i run them:
Lo rune ( yay for me )
tals armor
grandfather - bul-kathos
kyra's
set diadem ( was looking for the unique :( )
many many socketables that i dont even remeber to mention ( like an eth archon plate with ~740 defence and 0 socks:D )
All in all , some days ago that i started running them in open games with many players in , the drops multiplied , and now , i see a corona drop every couple of games ( really ). it is just a matter of time for griffons and coa i hope.

Best drops in level 85 areas (pit / ancient tunnels / WSK) :
- Ladder : Griffon, CoA, Metalgrid, Windforce, Griswold Caddy, etc...
- Single Player : Eth. Death Fathom
But the real source of income in level 85 areas still remains the socketables.
Found better than I ever have.
Funny - never even knew Meddle existed, and I listened to quite a bit of Floyd in my youf. Heh.

My best is probably Tal's armor with 0 mf while looking for socketables.
My first run with my metrorb. hadn't goten anything usefull in level two, so I went around clearing areas I skipped... just near the enterance an eth 4os CA dropped.

Basically keep armors that are good for Enigma and Chains of Honor.
Weapons that are good for Grief, BOTD, Death, Oath, Doom, Insight, Infinity, ++.
Shields that are good for Exile.
Helms aren't so important, but tree-socket Diadems and Tiaras can be kept for Dream.
I might have forgotten something.

I might have forgotten something.Yes, check also :
- Class-specific Helms (Druid, Barb) for good +3 auto-mods,
- 5-Sockets Crystal Swords (especially ethereal) for CtA,
- 4-Sockets Flails (especially ethereal) for HotO,
- Life Tap wands,
- 4-Sockets Staves with +3 Energy Shield for Memory,
- Echoing weapons,
- High res Paladin Shields for Spirit (or Monarches),
- White Berserker Axes (use the Horadric Cube and try to get 5 sockets),
- Etc...etc...
One old guide for socketables is this: http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=516296
Keep an eye out for non-socketed elite armor as well.
You have a higher chance of getting whites, and thusly greys by having a lower mf... which was what I forgot to specify with my post, I had over 300%mf at the time, so it was just the right amount of luck :P

I only found one (!) usefull thing this ladder when running a 85 area (cs).
That was a sc 20 live 10 cr.
That's it ^^
IST, MAL-2 p game, 1 p game
also 1 set shield whoch is useless but is said to be a very rare drop as a nice collectors item.
Also... Templars Might
LOL, templars might seems like the most common pit drop

Cranium basher I think.
Then I've almost completed all sets(all except griswold which I completed today, yay!)
crown of ages has dropped, full bul katho set.
Azurewrath didn't drop in the pits, but in the ancient tunnels, I wish I had that item again.
