I have in my posession a Hellfire Torch and did some testing with it. I noticed that when I Zeal and proc the Firestorm from the Torch I do not suffer any casting delay (Zeal never goes red). The arreat summit lists the Firestorm proc on Torch as being "Diablo's Firestorm skill" which I assume has no casting delay, and hence why my Zeal never goes red.

The Phoenix runeword also has a chance to proc Firestorm, however the arreat summit does not list it as "Diablo's Firestorm skill". Is this because it is the druid version with a casting delay? Or is it simply an oversight by the web team and it is the same proc as the Torch?

In short: Will the Firestorm proc from Phoenix make my Zeal go red?

No, because if you keep your mouse button pressed game treats that as one long zeal, it cannot be interrupted. However, all other skills can be interrupted and will go red, that makes Phoenix crap for all melee builds except zealot.

Are you sure? I was testing it on SP and found that if the Firestorm is the druids version then it does stop zeal. It doesn't interrupt it as such (you will finish the zeal) but it does make the skill go red, and your character will not zeal again until it goes white (even if you are holding down the button.) It's most noticeable when you proc the firestorm on the alst hit of your zeal. You will not attack again straight away (even if holding down zeal still) as your character WILL wait for the icon to go white.

Is the phoenix proc the druid firestorm? Or some magical strange firestorm?

Are you sure you aren't killing monsters too fast? :azn: I just tested it and my zealot continued to zeal even when zeal icon turned red. He stoped only when monster on which I targeted zeal died, then he just stoped even if I tried shift zeal :undecided:

And yes, Phoenix Firestorm is druid's firestorm.

for any and all uninterruptible skills, phoenix's ctc firestorm will not cause you to have a casting or skill delay.

and yes, it is the druid's firestorm. imagine if my fury wolf could benefit from that shield. sigh.

This is quite possible lol.

In SP I found that, while miniscule, the delay is there. I just don't know if that's accurate for realm play though. If you proc the firestorm on the last hit of zeal and kill a target (even if holding shift zeal) you defaintly will not zeal again until the zeal icon goes back to white. If you're used to 8/4/4/4/4 zeal it IS rather noticeable when you do a 14/4/4/4/4 or whatever it is.

And yes, Phoenix Firestorm is druid's firestorm.
So whether or not we agree there is a casting delay, the Firestorm proc on Phoenix DOES make zeal go red?

This is kind of contradictary to the above findings...

Really all I want to know is whether phoenix is a viable option for my zealot. Redemption is awesome and the fire absorb would make me immune to fire, but if the firestorm proc is going to keep stopping my zeal...

Also quick aside; I'm one of the people that loved Goldstrike but it's Foh proc made my strafer charsify it :(.

phoenix is more than viable. i would use it if i were still obsessed with zealots.
