Hacks?

What is going on? Lately I've been seeing Baal games in classic and some other wierd things like multiple socketed rares and magicals. I heard something about an act5 hack. That is pretty lame. Why do some people have to ruin everything for the legit players out there? The whole reason why I play classic ladder is because it used to be almost 100% legit. Now it looks like dupes and stuff are taking hold on the economy. This sucks.

welcome, I see you have 2 posts. you might find it useful to spend some time reading some of the posts here.

there are a variety of "hacks" going on, including the Act5 exploit you have seen/heard about. We do not discuss such things here however, other than to note their existence.

There was a minipatch that reportedly killed the duping on classic, it certainly has been less laggy relatively speaking lately. From what I have been told, the number of dupes is drying up, in part I imagine due to laziness on the folks seeking to perm the items, and/or the ability to socket items through other means (read hack).

if you have a decent sized /f list one can choose to ignore all of the going's on, and not worry so much about it. (after nearly 2 years for this ladder season, an attempt at the top of the ladder would be fruitless anyway)

Ya I've been lurking here for a while. I haven't seen any discussion on this. This post is mostly rant anyway, it's not like anyone here really has control of whether or not bnet gets hacked.

understood, we all miss things from time to time :) .

there have been multiple threads related to the A5 issue (including the wonky socket thread) as well as "baal runs" etc. discussed.

the minipatch that supposedly ended duping is a couple of months old now too.

To the OP, don't jump on the bandwagon!

In fact, I stopped trading because it seems whatever I trade, they turn it around and throw a socket into it, turning my gg item to complete worthless trash.

And if "they" happen to use a legit SOJ to socket your traded "GG item" then that is wrong? I'm kinda lost as to why you think that's wrong, unless you mean your "GG Uniques". "Poofer SOJ's" well, who can tell?

Enough to say, that anyone that sockets your "GG items", doesn't mean that "they" use the Act 5 hack, or use Poofer SOJ's, "they" could be legit, unless you meant Uniques, if which case, you should have stated so.

Even the best magical item is only 'nice', never godly. Can't get more than around 100 ed on a magic, or +2 skills and prismatic on an amulet or shield.
Or you could be sarcastic...kinda bad at picking that up at the best of times :P

Actually, pris and +skill are both prefixes, so you probably won't find those on a magic item.
Prismatic amulet of ...
Monks amulet of ...
Priests amulet of ...

And you can get ok-ish magic armors and amusing shields.
902 ornate with -30 req (holy ornate plate of ease)
902 ornate with 15 str
302 grim shield with 30/20 (holy grim shield of deflecting)

As for weapons, indeed you can only get 100 enhanced damage, while rares can get up to 200 enhanced damage.
When it comes to weapons you may only be interested in scepters, wands and perhaps a staff for a enchantress or maybe even a blizzer.(+2 sorc, +3 blizz adds a nice amount of damage and can even have 20 fcr on there)
You could get a +2 pala, +3 concentration, +3 blessed hammer, +3 meditation scepter with 10 fcr (used to be possible to get 20fcr back in a much older patch)

With a bit of luck, all the characters which where in act 5 and those hauling around magic, set or uniques with holes in them which are only possible with act 5, will get deported to lod.
