Meh, the only hld I play is a ww/trap so I guzzle potions at an astonishing rate in caster duels.

BTW, am I the only one that takes more offense to gold stealing than nk? This probably is a byproduct of the mana guzzling but it astonishes me that I get so irked by gold steal.

They're both pretty BM. I only ever have to use mana pots if it's a long duel.

i lld a lot. i dont hld much but i've noticed something. when i hld i tend to mana pot. i rarely have need of it or want to when i lld. what's the reasoning behind this you think? i mean you're probably spamming spells that cost more in hld but you have a greater pool and access to items that increase it even more. anyone else notice this?

I think that a proper mana management is somehow a part of lld itself, while in hld it's almost completely ignored, since everyone drinks mana pots anyway, even in gm duels. And, since we are on topic, don't your reckon that lld is much, much better manered then hld? I play on eu-scl, but I rarely see any tg or nk attempts at all, as oposite to hld when it's hard to find a game without it. Also the stuff like saying go, no lowhost or even not hosting a char with a class disadvantage, seems to be pretty obvious for 90% of lld'ers. The only bm I've came across in lld games is a lowhosting in case you don't put lvl restrictions on game, but since most of them can be really powned with your lld char, or, in case it's neccesary, by the team of them, it's just another part of the fun! :wink3:

i come across low hosting by noob lvl 30 hammers a lot. they'll host my 18's or my 9. i've also run into more than one fc zon. nk doesnt happen much. gold steal is there mostly from lvl 1's. "go" happens more frequently in pub games.... pretty much all the bad things in hld happen in lld but like you said much, much less frequently.

I once met a guy in a lld game whom I happened to buy a nice lvl 9 amulet from, after that we also traded some basic jewel or such and to my surprised he initiated a drop trade (him giving first!) when I after the trade commented on that he replied with "people who lld are usually decent people" and maybe he's got a point. Most seems to be pretty friendly, with a few exceptions.

I only find gold steal annoying when I can't afford more mana pots, which I think is what you're getting at.

I made a Hammerdin HLD once, but I never figured out how to use it lol. All I did was run away with charge and spam 1-2 hammers in random places :laugh: Now I understand a lot more how to play em :P

And CDM, my HLD sorc is definitely unique :afro: And it can hold its own :P

i can do the bird quests in nm and hell if you need them. i have a character that doesnt get them. she gets the jade statue then leaves before the quest gets completed so that i can always get them (i'd be able to do the same in normal too if i hadnt let fed convince me that being in another act wouldnt get me the quest...). den is easy with an enchant sorc. lmk if you need help with those.

Well, I guess that our realms differ a bit then. On eu scl the majority of lld'ers seem to be smiters, chargers, fb/light/es sorcs, kick or trap assas, fissure druids and amas. I've met few ww barbs, boners, blizz sorcs and windies. And I really know only couple of good hammerdins. :shocked:

Forumer is already ready for the Norm Baal quest. But hasn't done any of the important quests in norm except Den of Evil I think.

If you could GRush it and get all the Den, Rad, Golden Bird, Lam Esen, Izual, and Anya for each difficulty without leveling past 30, that'd be awesome :laugh:

Glad I'm on europe, as I play mostly ww barb it would be a pain if all were caster types... Now I at least have some kicksins, chargers and smiters to beat. I love being "unique" when it comes to pvp so next project in the making is you heard it right, leap attack! :laugh: haven't really decided which level to stop at... Either I'll go somewhere 27-31 depending on which gear I pick (being an oddball level would lower expectations of the char as it's hardly a competitive build what I know) or I could also replace the Insight with an Obedience and go MLD instead...

Anyway, gotta leech me through hell and get a few of the stat/skillquests done. Then I'll be into the action again.

Strangely enough, that was one of the few times I didn't get frustrated from not being able to do something. I had fun with it though, so that's all that matters.

ive noticed this too.......
i think it may be because hlds are more face paced and tele/spam wars
but in lld most chars rely on running/walking and can play defensive more easily

Hey you guys, have you ever heard of Celtic-AlphaBet. I dueled him and it came to my attention that his build kicks ***. Ummm, anybody got ideas about what his gear/skills are, because he won't show me :scratch: .

I beat him with my Frost Nova Sorc. We only dueled 2 times and I beat him once :P

I'm not kidding, I have one, and it can do pretty well.

He was wearing his Raven too.

I didn't get to video it though.

All I did was spam Orbs and Blizzards and killed with Frost Nova at the end. :tongue:

He thought I TMC'd because I had 105 FCR with Doom -.-

Celtic has to be one of my least favorite people I've met on d2, he's just not fun to be around. For a kid who advertises a mod on youtube, he accusses everyone of hacking an aweful lot. That auradin is nice though.

His Nova Sorc isn't very tough, but I could never beat his Auradin, except with my Sorc, which surprises me. He technically could've easy charged me to death.

His nova sorc is indeed quite easy. His auradin, however, destroys all my characters. Truthfully I don't really find anything wrong with him. He never nks me, he never did anything good to me, nor did he do anything bad to me.

That mod he uses looks pretty icky though, the only cool part is the color-changing conviction.

I've only made one trap assassin. She has been remade three times before I was finally satisfied with how she turned out. Currently level 85 I think, on USWest...the only thing I need to finish her (as far as gear) is a jewel. I had fun playing her for a while, but she got boring too quickly so I stopped playing her. It's also probably because I prefer sorceress' over the other classes. :laugh:

Yeah, sins are always hard to play so you learn new things and it never gets boring. I'm playing a pure Ghost so that'll keep me even more into it than a hybrid.

Frost Nova sorc isn't complex but its just fun seeing the comments you get when you kill them :P Of course you die too, but that's all part of the fun! :P

Sorceress is very simple, but I still like them most out of the other classes.

I said I might, but then again, noone, aside from my RL friend and MysticDragon has seen me seriously duel with it. Dueled his BvC, beat it once, died once :tongue: But he's been playing on his Hammerdin a lot recently and he's shaky on his BvC now :P

I can't exactly show you, since any decently skilled assassin or Wind Druid would probably obliterate it, like they do to most sorcs. And a sin is all you have :D

About me playing, school ends at the end of next week. So I should be playing within 2-3 weeks about. Maybe even less.

But when it came to putting in the skills, I always ended up going with orb or lightning. :tongue:

Honestly, saying that you could have played a character better shouldn't really hurt anyone's feelings...I got beaten to the ground by wizadept's comments, which were much "harsher," and I took it in as advice with no problems.

Well, your ideal craft is 10 fhr, 20 life, 10 rep and some amount of dex (need to look up rlevels and +rlevel from crafting).

I just don't like when people critique a player when they lose a duel.

Im the type of person who has fun losing or winning a duel , if some one want's to comment "good duel" or "Your good etc.." then Thats great it makes both duelers feel good. But if i lose then let me comment on how good who ever it was that beat me is but only if i want to comment on him. I Don't like when the winner tells you did poorly or how you can play better when no one asked.

Hahaha Ughhh wonder if im the only one who thinks this way , guess im just a hot head.

~Wolf growl~ and on a side note Im so BM to paladins i BM my own paladin. I even have my paladin tied up on a chain to a dog house behind Gheeds tent while Kiba ze werewolf gets his ears scratched & his belly rubbed by all of the rouge mercenarys.

I also have the 19 stats anni on ze paladin while kiba gets the 20 stat anni , This makes my paladin very jealous.

Because dex doesnt affect claw block, you can increase the block speed of claw block, but not the ctb with anything except points into claw block. 'Else c/c sins would be overpowerd methinks

It seems there are more mod users on NL - I might be wrong though...as for being arrogant - well, some nice people just act like jerks in pubs, after all they are against the 90% players that you've mentioned which gives them plenty of confidence :smiley:

yeah that's probably true, and I don't know about the hacks in nonladder, but it makes me think twice about each hammerdin I see, now that there are LOTS of good ones in pub games.
I mean, there are a lot of ppl with good namelocking skills, but when someone teles 10-20 times on top of me and never misses one single cm, well ... I dont know.

Luckily I play aww/ls sin, which cant be telestomped as easily by a hammerdin. I still hate those pesky ******dins :(

And yeah youre right, their self-confidence grows too much often, when they beat most pubby duellers.
I gtg now (with mates to pub), but I will post some screenshots tomorrow what happens when you challenge one of those self-claimed gozu 1337 bm pk hammerdins for a ft5 with 1 sorb item in a priv game.

Thinking about which char to do next. ATM I'm only playing my ww/ls/kick sin and sometimes my V/t, but I got a full bvc, full fb sorc and full bowa on mule and don't know what do do with the stuffs; all is permed.
I'm currently testing several chars in open ip games but it's hard for me to find a char that I can enjoy.
Actually all casters bore me because I'm a offensive fanatic and hate defensive play, usually. BvC is boring against mainly all kind of paladins IMHO, while it's nice to duel casters.
Might make another trapper for FFAs and tvt (LS/FB 65fc c/c), rebuild my vt and build a bvc, but gotta think about it again.
I just dont wanna let all those good items rot on my mules.

remember that hammerdin i was telling u about Moritz? that was the only hammerdin that beat my barb pretty bad and it turned out it was not skill rather hacks :(

i only really use my bvc and ww/trapper although i use my mage on ladder but for some reason im not too much of a fan of ladder ...

i use that bowa now i built but im not pro on it infact i think im awful however it starting to annoy getting 1 hit kos or smiters shreading me it usally ends up me getting nked and i have to brb with another char...

i mean i kill some on it but for what its worth its not that great.. may make a bone nec or something...

Hammerdins are not only one of the most seen charclass because of their obvious ''natural'' BM potential, but also because bad players can rule a lot with the help of hacks with hdins.

Seriously, dont use bowas in pubbys. IMO they are already bad in priv 1v1s, but in pubbies you will 95% of the time do one of the following things:
- die
- run to your corpse
- getting nked
- spam arrows from town

Rather make a bone necro ;>

haha u got it exactly right that how i spend most of my time on my bow ama if its a nk game u usally see me spamming from town then going back in and seeing the "xxx was slain by townhugger"

I dont say that bvcs are boring, I only say that dueling paladins (and barbs) with a bvc is usually boring.
And yes, I am seriously thinking about building a bvc, and I already have 90% of the gear, including a good coa, a good grief ba, and ~30 permed 32020s.
Missing some stash eq, but I got all the core parts.

Well yeah if I had to name a thing that annoys me at my ww hybrid (I really love her), I would say that the dmg over time thing can sometimes be very uncomfortable in pub games.

Contrary a barb does _massive_ damage: 1-2 triwhirls destroy almost every build that I could think of. (assuming your AR is sufficent)

A good point for a bvc for me, personally, would be that it pretty much covers my ww/ls sin's weaknesses.

yeah wot my ww/trapper cant do my barb usally can but the only probs with barb is if someone bring a bvb, then u need something to beat it. I mean it can be done with a bvc but takes too much time i.e widow + ow and drive by whirls etc however if the barb teles especially some put enough to tele at 40% fcr which is wot bvcs use then its a problem..

I got a V/T for bvbs :> They usually lack resists and if they dont ... I have been practising telesmiting especially against barbs in open games, and with exile and enough slow on a v/t you can beat most barbs.
At least the pubby ones =)

Also thinking about T/V or V/T as for my vt rebuild because actually not that much people seem to be stacking on euscnl.

hmm my bvc has alot of lightstack and genral stack anyway cuz mine is not like the typical 33x 32020s i use 1/3 32020s a little section with life/mana and another bit with some light stack charms then the typical fhr/res scs

however with the v/t u should be able to rip alot of the pub barbs apart this is why i plained to make a nec or windy for this and the fact that in general they are good pvp chars.

Some PK screens consist of 90% hardcore insults - those might be removed. I did not suggest that you use hacks/3pps at all :wink3:

Yep, necs and windy are not bad against vt, but you still gotta be careful if the vt is good at telesmiting and DONT telestomp them ever with ele druid.

necs usually die in one chainlock series if you do it right.

I agree with your charms. Nothing is worse than running out of mana during a triwhirl.

yeah i know cuz i use the hammer smite technique to kill some windys on my mage sometimes i.e when they tele stomp im in there face with smite.

Hey Moritz you mentioned you were testing builds out in open. If you are having any more open duels with legit setups at some point I'd like to jump in.

My chars are d2pk builds though so some of them might be a step above what youre using, but I have a bunch of chars so I could switch it up. Let me know if you are interested in any open or tcp/ip duels.

aaaaaaand playing bvc worked much better than the times before (I have been playing bvc 5 days lol), but I play wwsins for a long time, anyway it worked perfectly for me.

wouldnt have thought that ping mattered so much :/

East Ladder softcore
This guy (*cra1) brings his level 45 javazon into my game which I very specificly called "Level 9-30 duels" and proceeds to hostile everyone. That clearly falls into the bm guidelines so I prebuffed, grabbed my whistans+fcr ring and went out. Ran, dodged his lightning bolt, tanked the cs, got in behind him and spammed nados as he tried to run backwards. EZPK
So then he calls everyone a noob and comes back with a level 89 hammerdin and started trash talking. I didn't want to bother trying to fight him with my 30 so I rejoined with my HLD windy. Boed in dark woods and ran into the moor. Noticed he had a wizzy and shako on so I just telebombed him. EZPK. Of course, that's not enough so I bothered to turn on hurricane and town guarded. EZerPK.

All told, I beat on a griefer and made 800k.

no, I'm really reaaaally lazy and I still found the whole thing pretty much ''ezcake'' ^_^ (I mean the last 2 years)

On average (including all subjects etc) I am around 12 points, which is b+ (actually a bit worse, 11.6 or so). I am a bit disappointed about my mark in English, but nevermind. That's probably because I haven't read the book about which I wrote my essay (the exam consisted of 2 parts: An unknown text [it was taken from The Guardian and was about illegal immigration in the USA and new attempts to reform the immigration laws or so] with questions, analysis of stylistic devices and an English-German translation; and an essay, which was in my case about Moon Palace from Paul Auster and I hadn't read it, which I already mentioned (only a rather short summary of it) ^_^

Now I'm going to study mechanical engineering/machine construction (I don't know how it's called in English, is that correct?).

Anyway, after all I think it's been rather easy and I'm sort of glad with the results.

This was mentioned a little way back, but I'm constantly annoyed by meet what I take to be good pkers and finding you they run gmod. It happens all the time, gmod and tmcbp are everywhere now. I dueled a smiter they other day and was amazed at his build/fhr/speed. Turned out he has loaded just about every hack but autotp (200fhr makes trap lock pointless etc.)

yep, also a real pain in the *** are ele druids who use some kind of higher resolution modification, gmod and tmc.

I dueled one lately [@europe players: he was from HoD ^_______^ = most known bm hacking clan, they got their own mods, not the pubby ones].
he could telestomp me with 163fcr , 174fhr from 2 screens away with gmod, while I even didnt have the chance to namelock for mindblasting because he wasnt in my screen before his nl tele.
he always telestomped me, shot 2-3 torns, and teled away again and due to clawblock/fhr etc it was damn hard for me to catch him then.

When the score was 2-2, he left with capslock insulting me, because his promise to 5-0 me ez didnt fulfill. Still love the screenshots I made afterwards hehe

I played ww/ls/kick sin in this matchup btw.

I believe gmod is an autoaim type mod. Like you can target the druid or necro just by clicking near them even with minion stack. Tmc is modifying breakpoints??? Like a pally can cast at 7 frames. I think. These are what I hear. The newest one I've heard of is you can change your resolution more then before and give yourself a huge screen.

aa: autoaim, fairly self explanitory, press a key and you have aim on someone as if you namelocked, tele, blizz whatever. Can be used soon as someone is on your map, they can be a few screens away.
Tactic to counter these guys is to just play knowing they can telestomp whenever they are on your map. Really unfair in the hands of a gg player, although most people who use this in pubs are predictable as to when they will tele on you, this makes them easy.

gmod: changes the function of some skills to aim like foh, mainly used for teleport. This means someone can click near you and they will tele right on you.
Really common cheat in pub games, very easy to counter, the player will always tele on top of you, that means they can not blindspot tele, they can not tele ahead of you, they can not tele below you. Exploit this weakness of theirs. Just remember its easy for them to tele on you so r/w (or ww) whenever you see them start to cast tele.

tmc: changes the base bps, this means someone can reach max bps for fcr/fhr without any gear on their character at all, and also means with some tweaking of tmcbp mod they can get faster than max possible cast/fhr rates.
There is really no counter against this cheat. It just makes their character more powerful. Just hope the player using it sucks.

autojuv, autotp, auto s/e: pretty self explanitory. Performs one of those actions when a player's life drops below a specified %.

flashhack: flashes the screen for the opponent, this prevents holding namelocks, and also very annoying and difficult to duel while screen is flashing.

So yeah.. basically everything short of godmode, although tmc + aa + autojuv is pretty damn close.
Really unfair to duel against if you keep legit. But you'll run into such opponents sooner or later if you duel on bnet. =\ You can pk some of them in pubs just cause those players are generally bad beneath all those cheats, but when pro bm comes in the game.. not much you can do. I guess thats the point of cheats.

really quick story. i made a duel game the other day and quickly had 6 people join. 4 made 2x teams of two and within minutes one of the teams looked to be using every single one of the things you mentioned. the last 3 of us that hadnt partied quickly and quietly partied and while we were only able to kill them one or two times (how furstrating is auto tp i mean i really wouldnt care about dueling vs hacks as long as i occasionally get the satisfaction of a kill) it was bowa/libby(me)/cold sorc vs windy(and some pally of some kind, he kept getting mad that he couldnt kill me so he kept switching) with a hammer pally.

ps. the blinking doesnt affect the play style of a libby much except i cant nl charge or smite at all. i was pertty much relegated to protecting the bowa with hammer fields.
