View Full Version : Hybrid Bone/Summon PvP: More Bone or Stronger Summons?

Hi all,
I finally found a Wand with 2 os/2 Revive/2 bone spear, so I was thinking of making a Bone/summon for PvP. I have to say he'll prolly get used most for team duels or BM duels, so IM and amp is fair game.
The question I have is : go for more bone spear damage or stronger revives?
And it seems like Hoto would be better than the wand I just made...
Skill so far:
20 bone spear
20 bone spirit
20 bone prison
1 skel mastery
1 skell
1 mage
1 revive
1 in amp, iron maiden, life tap, decrep
White wand, +2 necro circlet, nigma, trang, mara, spirit shield, spider belt
5 pnb gc, 4 summon gc
Bone spear damage is now around 3100.
I have about 23 more skill points to use and I could just dump them all into bone wall. Bone spear then gets to about 4.2k. Thats ~ 200 pvp damage.
Dumping all those points into skellie mastery could make for some nastier revives though. So which to do? The standard boring necro or can a summoner like this benefit from stronger revives (elemental as well as physical get boosted with revive damage?).
Whats everyone think?
If you insist on using minions, I'd say, go with Revives; you have more versatility with these. It would suck to have stalling opponents though...
A White Wand with +3 to SM (giving you a total of +7 to SM) and whatever other skills would be a good idea to use as prebuff for reviving.
Your Bone damage appears to be a bit low, though. Since you're going for a Bone/Summon hybrid, an idea to think about (and I don't know if it's been done before) is to use an Infinity on yourself (your merc won't do; he'll just die) and use Souls or whatever monsters that have heavy elemental damage as revives. Getting them might be a pain and you also don't know whether they are in the current game, but it might be interesting.
Lastly, don't forget to get a Golem...
I am starting a Bone necro for pvp again but this time im going to put point in amo and revive. I think i going to have 300-450 lost damage but it can be brought back when i reach lvl 99. Something 4700-5500 Spear damage is fine for me. Revives are good is somebody is nking killing you and you want your revenge!
I was thinking of making the samething. However I really wanted to use skeles because when I play bm or feel like nking, then people are going to be sitting in town and revives would just wear off.
This question all comes down to if you play defensively or offensively.

The real question I asked ws wether or not its better to put the last 20 points in bone skills (Net 200 pvp damage) or to sink 20 points into skel mastery for stronger revives.
If they decide to camp in town, I win automatically . :)
Well it sounds like 200 Dmg really isn't that big of a deal when you have stronger meat shields around you. (Defense)

Yeah, 200 damage is about what it comes down to...that and around 300 more absorb (900?) for bone shield.
I was just checking out the damages of Hell monsters though. average damage seems to be around 100. Lets just say I had skel mastery to give 400% damage addition to revives...thats 500 damage. In pvp its then ~85...with only 200% (20 points less) its 50. Thats not a whole lot. And thats before subtracting physical resist.
Yeah, I know I could get some gloams (400% damage on those would be neat...especially with lower resist), but it seems like using the extra bone skills is the way to go.
Anyone agree with my new assessment?

Imo its a question of play style. More damage on your skill is appropriate for aggressive play. More damage/life on revives ( better than skels for pvp imo ) suits a more defensive player. I personally use more bone skills and rely on plus skills for the summons. My items give +17 skills iirc which is plenty for my personal play style.
I like the gm/bm debate that often rages around necromancers where we use only our natural skills. I am quite happy to run with my enigma on rather than teleport if the sins dont ww, the baba's dont tele and the pals dont generate life tap with every 2nd smite. In pubbies I see no reason you shouldnt minion stack, bp and decrep as often as possible. If u really want to make smiters cry, have doom on w switch after u cast decrep and dump gumby on them. Just for the record, I have never had any smiter take off dracs or exile so as not to life tap. All I have ever had is " cry more noob, my l33t skillorz pwn u ". Its so satisfying to quote them after u decrp/gumby/bp/bs there sorry adzes.

Yeah, I think I'm going to go mostly bone. It shouldn't matter how much more damage the revives have when the tapping smiter is cursed with level 35 iron maiden.
