Can someone teach me how to format a table so I can make the ladder more aesthetically attractive? Participants were randonly inserted.

Rules:

- No healing potions/shrines/ no mana pots for ES based sorcs.
- No charges from items, yep, no lt sticks/wolves/oak and such.
- No prebuff, see next rule.
- After you have bo'ed and cast es etc. you cannot go into stash. That is an instant loss.
- No mercenaries, no nk, no badmannering any kind.
- Dodge limit is 3 days
- You can only challenge a person 1 - 3 spots ahead of you.
- Duels are first to 3 or 5 (Challenger will have last word on this).
- Game must be played on Hell
- Challenger must pm challenged for duel, challenged must answer.
- Map must be cleared of all monsters.
- Duel starts when _both_ of the players have said ".go" (notice the dot).
- Defensive play is NOT encouraged, but remember the line between "running" and defensive play.
- If a player is requested to show equipment, it must be done asap without going in to stash. ( abs enforcing )
- If player drops from a game when inventory check is requested, that counts as an automatic loss to the player.
- Rejoining the game only because of charge bug, anya bug or some other good reason is allowed.
- If #13, #14 or #15 is challenged by a non-ladder player and he loses, he will drop out of the ladder.
- You need to wait 12 hours before dueling the same opponent again
- Anyone who drops 4 spots or more is given optional immunity
- You cannot challenge the same person twice in a row. This is only not applicable when you are second in the table. If you are third, for instance, you need to challenge the second before challenging the first ranked participant, if your last duel was against the latter. This is to prevent people from constantly challenging participants against whom they have build advantages.
- Do post your win-loss ratios for each duel. Best win/loss ratio may get a small advantage within a fixed time perios (this portion is not confirmed)
- No use of third part programs except fraps
- No drinking of antidotes and thawing potions is allowed at any time. Auto-loss if this rule is broken.


Banned items:

-Last Wish (allowing dracs and exile tentatively to even certain matchups)
-Hotspurs
-Rising sun


Resist/Absorb rules:

- 1 piece of non-standard gear absorb
- Max of 85% to a single resist
- Resist stack equipment count as absorb gear. Such equipment include but are not restricted to pally sanctuaries, umed Kiras and pgemmed shields
- Limit of 1 piece of max-resist gear for each element

Class-specific rules:

Necros:
- Only amp, decrep and LR to be used
- No bone prison

Paladins:
- Adding points into resist auras counts as using a max-resist item. running a resist aura counts as using both a max-resist item and a stack item, which means no sorb is allowed.
- No use of prayer and redemption. Meditation is allowed when opponent is not in your screen. This punishes overly defensive play against pallys, while the "do not run away" rule keeps pallys from abusing.


Pre-buffing:

The only allowed pre-buffing would be enchant prebuffing. Nothing else is allowed. Not venom, not ES.

Resolving disputes:

There are no certain ways to get around disputes. behaving like gentlemen is the best way. IE prevention being better than cure. Otherwise, taking screenshots or having someone else present is always a good form of proof.

I think that allowing one piece of sorb with max-res is fine, as long as sorb is not used in tandem with stack gear.

Doesnt stacking only help if they have a way to lower your res? Getting res up to 85 and using sorb negates damage to much. I personally won't do that. The most I will to is 85 res if I feel I need it.

Most elemental characters can lower your resistances, with the sole exception trapsins. If you guys like, for traps, sorb will not be allowed with increased max resistances. Same rules apply for the rest of characters.

One piece of +Max Resistance OR Sorb gear per element.

if +max res is chosen, no resistance is to exceed 85%

no single piece of res-stack gear to exceed 115% to any resistance. no limits on stack.

definitions:
Sorb: %absorption as provided by Dwarf Star, Ravenfrost & Wisp Projector, this includes items with Poison Length Reduction
+Max Res: items that increase your effective resistances above the 75% cap. examples: Infernostrides, Thundergods Vigor, Fortitude Armour.
res-stack: items which add surplus resistances over your cap (75 for sorbers, 85 for max'ers) to counter resistance lowering skills such as Lower Resist, Cold Mastery and Conviction.

your new little rule is rather wierd. for a start if i have 70% fire res, and switch in a 10% fire-res SC, i now have 5% stack. can i now not use a dwarf? how can we tell if someones 'stacking'? putting a limit on the amount of res on any given itam (pally sanctuary shields) stops silly things like 4psapphire 45-res shields.

You can sling on a wisp and a tgods against a foh user, but it won;t be of much use without the resist stack shield to back up the increased max-resists, and thus there isnt a way to stack conviction. That is suicide.

Eh? Why am I in the equation suddenly? I'm simply saying that the point of cutting sorb is to enable elemental characters to compete, but not at the expense of other characters. we aim to find a suitable middle ground.

fire and lightning sorceress' need specific equipment to lower opponents resists for them.

this rule of yours basically forces every fire/lit sorc to either use tons of facets, a phoenix shield, infinity stick or similar otherwise face 85%res AND %sorb. how is this 'balanced'? it forces one concept of a sorc build onto everybody.

under the one-piece/either-or rules, a fire-sorc with no-facets could compete. a decent fire sorc should be able to cut through a dwarf OR 85% fire-res, in your scenario, we won't get a fire-sorc entering.

your rule makes +max res items totally and completely worthless against anyone who can lower resists.

and have you thought yet on how we police this? does an inventory of 20/5 sc's count as "stack" or "standard kit"?

yes. but a middle ground should include all builds, not just some concepts of them. there shouldn't need to be exceptions in the rules regarding equipment vs one opponent (except for some specific skill related ones)

the middle ground should also be simple. show gear, ok, i see one wisp, one piece of PLR gear, no +max-res: fine, GO!

i see potential arguments under your scenario.

edit: how about this as a simplification:

Resistances/Absorb rules:
You may either have up too 75% resistances and use a single sorb item, or you may have from 76-85% resistance and forgo any sorb items for that element.

Sorb items are defined as Absorbed By x%, as found on Dwarf Star, Wisp Projector and Ravenfrost rings and Poison Length Reduced by x%.

if you choose to take 85% resistances to an element, you may use whatever combination of gear or skills to reach this target you deem necessary. example: a Fortitude Armour and a Lo in a helm OR a Thundergods Vigor would both acheive 85% Lightning Resistance.

under no circumstances may you exceed 85% resistance to any element during a duel.

while it is up to the dueller to choose appropriate equipment for the matchup as required to maintain their resistances, please bear in mind that no single item of equipment may exceed +115% to any resistance

this is aimed at placating those opposed to resistance stack who feel it's BM to stack out Conviction or Cold Mastery.

personally, i have no issue with 4-psapphire shields either, so long as your max is, as agreed, 75% or 85%.

But thats how I got my highest level characters... I've only ever gotten to 90 on my own, after that I get lazy and want to duel.

my profuse apologies, but i have been unable to complete any of the duels i have been challenged too and will have to forfeit.

i am moving house tomorrow and will be taking a d2 sabbatical for about a month to let me get some RL sheisse sorted out. when/if i return to battlenet on a semi-regular basis, i would love to challenge on this ladder.
