Has anyone tried and does it work? I don't play online so I cant try myself. logically, CS is a melee javellin skill and so is PD, so if you have throwing knives, wouldn't the same principle apply?

No...there is a legit way to farcast, it's just hard.
I'm pretty sure you can "farcast" with most skills; from what I've seen, if you switch between skills like you do in farcasting, and then use them, sometimes they will have the double effect. For example, when I tele around and switch between Fireball/Tele, there are some times when the right skill button appears as Fireball, but when I right click, I teleport AND shoot out a Fireball at the same time. It's happened so far with Fireball, Battle Orders, Nova (god this one is fun), and Frozen Orb...so I'd imagine that it can happen with anything.
@OP: It's interesting...maybe someone with a greater knowledge of the game (glitches) can explain in greater depth? Maybe it would be the exact same thing as farcasting legitly with a javelin, but with a knife...try it sometime. I'm curious.

There was a thread on this a while back. However for some reason the search only gives back results from 2007 or 2004.

You can farcast basically any skill, including poison dagger.
You don't need to use throwing weapons with most skills, either. You can farcast using a ranged skill (sometimes teleport, like Minion said) or with a ranged weapon (javelins, throwing knives, et cetera)

as i said i only play offline so i cant do it at all and certainly do not agree with hacks. morally, i think legit farcasting is still something that should be agreed upon in duels. hypothetically, if everyone could farcast anything easily, players would be using builds simply because they have the best skills to farcast with. take bone spirit and blessed hammer for example, it would be so broken and ppl would have to pump magic resistance

When you farcast other skills the only thing that happens is they don't see the actual skills that is hitting them, so far cs is the only one that actually works through walls or appears right on the person you have namelocked.

but with dagger, since its poison, wouldn't you see them turn green?

This is only partially true.
Yes, they don't see the skill hitting them, but you can also use it (I thought people would catch onto this...) with skills that are normall 'melee' like CS (ie Berserk and Smite).

It'd act exactly as if you'd hit them with pdagger - including AR and all that. Yes, they would turn green if it connected.

You can do the action of the farcast with things like zerk and it will put the swirly above your head and drop defense to 0, but they won't actually hit. You can even ww in place by trying to fc ww.

One of the coolest things I've ever done was just a few hours ago...
I 'farcasted' a Strafe...it did the firing animation once and only once, and no arrows came out...and then the monster next to me got hit with an invisible Strafe. It...well, then it died.

Did the monster get hit right away or did it take a second? When you fc it gets hit right away, but if you do the actions to fc it will show you did something else and take a second before it actually hits. Unless they were right by you.

There was a slight delay in the time it took for the monster to react to the hit, even though it was right by me, i.e. an arrow firing normally would hit it sooner.
soo how do you farcast, just spam your tele/spell till they both happen with 1 click?

Yeah, that's what I figured. The only skill I can get to do the normal fc is cs.
How would you FC a Poison Dagger then?

You would use a spell that has range and switch back and forth between the 2.

Or... use a throwing knife? Dagger class weapon... plus you have access to the throw skill...

Poison dagger only applies when the dagger is used in melee combat, no poison if ranged.

read the thread, we're talking about "farcasting" with poison dagger. the whole point is to be able to use an attack from a distance as though you were next to your target.
