View Full Version : Freezing arrow vs. Guided arrow
Hello all!
As you all can see: this is my first post over here ;) To "prove" that i'm not a total noob i shall show you a pic of my bowama:

As you can see: my multi-dmg is allright.... The only thing is that i have big problems with killing monsters like diablo/baal (monsters with lots of hit points)
My question to you all is: I have 11 skill choices remaining; in which skill should i invest? I think that when i put some extra points in guided my dmg will not get much better.... Or am i wrong?
Last question? is Freezing arrow an option to put some skills in to get some extra dmg?
Equipment
Faith GMB (15-1-2)
Gaze (15 ias)
Nosferatu's belt
Forty dusk
Gore riders
2 x raven frost
Laying of Hands
Anni / torch/ lots of psn sc's
I hope someone can help me!
(if more information is needed, just tell me!)

You are correct. 11 pts = 55%ed, which will only be in the range of 150 to 200 additional max dmg.

It's worth one point for the freezing effect but I wouldn't bother with any more than that.
Your complete skill placement would be helpful, but I don't think your skills are necessarily the problem. Act bosses are hard to take down because of their huge hitpoints, so the best way to take them down is Strafe + as much Crushing Blow as you can muster. I see you're already wearing Gore Riders, so maybe try using Strafe first before making any drastic skill placements or gear changes.
First of all: thanks for the quick reply!
I posted them here:

BTW: putting points into strafe, would i have enough skills left to get a real dmg on bosses out of it?
Thanks a lot!

Simply put, yes. You don't necessarily need to max Strafe for it to be a worthwhile skill.

To bussisness ;) :... i put one skill into strafe... nice dmg already... but will it increase much when i put more skills in it? ( i believe only 5%extra dmg comes with each extra skill)

Bowazons get most of their damage from dexterity, auras and Critical Strike, so no, additional points in Strafe won't help your damage much, but they will increase the number of arrows you shoot.
Besides the "attacks up to" stat listed in your skill description, there's also a minimum arrows stat equal to [2 + slvl / 4], meaning at slvl 20 you'd be shooting at least 7 arrows even against a single target (act boss).

a good bowama for high levels needs at least 900 life on base vitality (no cta)
and yeah, freezing arrow 1 point is a must
i have FA and multi on mousewheel so i can easily switch between them for a really good killing effect (FA -> multi -> multi -> multi -> FA....)
why are you packing poison small charms if you want to kill fast. Poison needs time to kill, you don't want this, so ditch most of them for max/ar/life. This should make you killing speed a lot higher as you damage per shot will go up.
The rest seems good. Though perhaps getting some ctc amp or decript might help. Act bosses mostly have high phisical res it I'm not mistaking.

CtC Amp usually comes from Atma's Scarab (unique amulet).
CtC Decrep usually comes from Reaper's Toll on your Merc.
