Hey,
Decided to make a lightning zon for cow running on hc.
This will only be for cows. I have other chars for running other areas.
Just some help on skill layout and gear.
For skills i was thinking
Max Ls
Max Cs
Max Lf
5 in d/a/e
10 or so in valk
5 peirce
Rest into valk?
And i'm not really sure on some budget gear. That would still be safe enough for hc hell cows. And still be able to kill things.
Now a few specific questions.
1. Is ar needed for a light zon?
2. I will not need res correct?
3. Holy freeze merc would work well for cows?
4. Whats most important things to look for on this char? Ias, res, fhr etc.
Cheers.
1. AR is not needed, unless you DO decide to run other areas where you may have to use Jab for immunes
2. You shouldn't need Res, really, but it's so easy to get with a Java then why not -- that way, let's say that you run into a monster that is MSLE, you won't have to worry so much
3. NO...no Holy Freeze merc...it makes grouping and herding very difficult when half the cows are slowed but others are chargin in. Leave the Holy Freeze merc and go with Might -- that way he can pick off the stragglers that LF doesn't kill.
4. I would say FHR is important (for all characters really), but you'll get enough IAS from Titan's and a pair of +2 skills IAS -- or LOH -- and everything else should be cake. As to RES -- I can't help it, every character I build MUST have max res. I won't leave home without it.
As to a budget setup -- I don't know how effectively you will kill in Hell Cows as I never run them, but I used the following on my Zon and Merc until I hit Hell -- where I needed a bit more punch -- so I had to opt out for INFINITY on my merc.
Zon gear:
Helm: Rockstopper (it was already socketed with a 15 IAS, 10 max dmg)
Armor: Smoke Runeword (Diamond Mail -- 800 Def) Viper would work, too.
Weapon: Regular Titan's with 9% LL
Gloves: LOH would work well, but I lucked out and found +2Jav 20 IAS, Dex, Res gloves
Rings: Raven Frost (of course) and Bul Kathos or Dual leech + res ring
Shield: Moser's with X2 pdiamonds (Lidless would be okay, with an UM)
Amulet: I use a +2 rare, but Cat's Eye always works...personally, for PvM, I would go with either Cat's Eye or some other ammy that offers all res...but you're ONLY doing Cows so...
Boots: Always the hardest. Again, I lucked out and had 40FRW/10FHR + tri-res boots. But I would guess that Sandstorms or Waterwalks would be the preferred way to go.
Belt: Razor Tail all the way -- especially for cows -- you won't need TGODS (although I consider TGODS to be the more generally applicable PvM belt). But for Cows, well, Pierce is king and Razor Tail will get you there the quickest.
Charms: Who knows -- you may not need an anni and torch (we all survived without them before they existed, eh?) But I WOULD get as many skillers as possible. They really do make a world of difference. I would say 4-5 java skillers and 1-2 passive skillers would round things out nicely.
With this setup I ripped NM to shreds, and I was doing fine in Hell with the exception of Lit Immune creatures. INFINITY fixed that situation pretty quickly.
I think this setup is viable for you...
Oh, and as to your Merc -- my suggestion for budget gear is:
Andy's ral'ed (Tal's Mask is ALWAYS an option on the cheap)
Duriel's Shell (or a Lionheart or Duress -- Duress really should get VASTLY more credit than it does).
Eth Exceptional or even Basic INSIGHT Polearm
Insight is a HUGE boost until you get your LF up to a point where you only NEED to fire a couple of shots off with it. INSIGHT really makes the build sing until you can find other ways to alleviate the mana usage problem of LF.

Ok thanks alot. Helped heaps
I have some of those so it should be good. I'll try and find some titans now.
I'll go for a torch i think. The 3 skills should help alot. And i'm guessing would be cheaper then 3 skillers.
My strafer can do hell cows. But its a bit slow, The reasoning for tis guy :D.
Cheers.
More input is welcome
