pls help, how much dex do i need

i'll be using a spirit monarch, and the block is at 42%

how much dex should i put in? to make blocking max it's like 300dedx, way too much to put into dex

It's a complete waste to try for max block on a spirit, either get a shield with a higher block rate (preferably over 70%, such as visc or whitstans) or just go vita.

Only as much Dex as you need for your other equipment, and not a single point more. I'd strive for none at all, personally.

I wouldn't stress too much over not having max (or even high) block on a Sorc. Unless you're making a Meleesorc, in which case you really need a new shield. Other than that, you shouldn't be getting hit enough for it to matter how often you block. And even if you are getting hit, the extra Vitality is your friend, rather than sacrificing it in the name of a slightly higher % chance to block.

Well I love blocking, but as everyone has already stated it's not worth trying to max block with a spirit shield. If you're really in need of blocking and want to be more of a tank I would suggest using a Stormshield, since you already have the strength for a monarch.

Stormshield is actually pretty useful for it's damage reduction and resistances alone.
