A good story

Thought I would post a story of one of those good players you run into on Bnet which is a refreshing change to a lot of the asshats you meet.

I threw up a "jus playin" room while I finished up some quests on NM act 1. A lvl 62 sorceress pops in named scooochy. He comes along and helps me clear out the barracks and get the mallet. Then he goes to his barb, drops me some gold boots and opens a cow portal. Goes back to his sorc and he and I blast through a cow level. Best of all Sigon's guard dropped for me which was a biig improvement over my other shield.

Anyone else have a good similar story to share?

I was feeling generous one day, and noticed the only game up was one named "just playin" with one char in it. There was nothing else to do so I decided to join and help this poor newb out. I don't know what it was, maybe I was feeling generous that day, but I threw him some boots. He was annoying, didn't ask straight out, but kept makin mooing noises. So, takin the hint, I offered to cow him. Funniest part was, when Sigons dropped, he screamed like it was the Fourth of July. Good guy. :grin:

and what is it that turned? and by "all of a sudden" - you mean over the past 6 years?


as for the story. it does sound like something I'd do from time to time. there's a couple of folks here, that will ping me in game, and say "wtf you doing?" wondering what I'm up to in a norm game, or even nm game, and I can sense them rolling their eyes as I help someone with a quick/partial rush, quest, or even chant them for a cow game.

the way I see it, if I can help someone out, in a mature fashion, perhaps we'll have less of the asshat players on, and in fact more players online, which makes for more games to mf/level in, and more people to trade with, and more people to pvp with, etc.

unfortunately, all too often, when I'm helping out, there is a large percentage of folks that instantly get pretty pushy/demanding with the begging. I also have found an inordinate number of "tagged" / clan members that need help, and/or are big on the begging... I sort of assumed that was one of the benefits of clan membership, help getting rushed?

guess I know why I have never joined a clan.. (even though many people think some of my characters are clan affiliated due to my propensity for OMG prefix when I'm making goofy phrases into my char names - such as "OMGPigsCanFly" )

Lol, I do this all the time. I PK tons of games pretty much every day, but its rare that I find a kid that is actually cool with being PKed lol. Most kids are always "Fag! F--- U! blah blah blah, whine whine whine!" or my favorite "You have been slain by JudasXPriest" "NOOB!" lol... but anyway. Sometimes ill get these games where 6/7 of the kids whine and accuse me of hacking whereas 1 of the kids realizes wtf is goin on and actually laughs with me at these noobs. ;) when i chase all the other kids away because thier tired of dieing, and hes the only 1 left, ill hell rush him and get him to level 25 with my chanter. thats pretty much how i made all my friends lol.

once, some hacking FC amazon PK-ed my hammerdin, who actually sucks (high MF, 0 fhr, 0 fcr, 20 lr or something)

he claimed to be the best dueller on the realm, because he managed to kill an MF char (160++ MF) with a duel char.
I told him that my grandma could do it.

after some trashtalk, I told him to slim-fast, because he was a fat <bad person>, who should diet, because probably he was mega-fat and didnt have a girlfriend
he left the game

few weeks ago, some guy kept asking me, if I have argued with a guy named John (or whatever). I told him it could have been possible.

He told me that apparently John was an uber fat person, who never had a girlfriend and after our arguement he stopped playing diablo (it happened like 5 months ago) and started to diet (slim fast!), and excersice. He lost 30kgs and found a fat girlfriend to whom he engaged

two weeks ago, me and TDL dominated the europe NLD LLD scene
we proceeded to kill every character who joined our "duel us noobs" game

that was so much fun, to kill them all!
we used a combo of zealer/charger + healingsmiter or fireball-palladin

they couldnt stop us! rah!

sometimes I join these act1 games, because I dont have 2 pairs of keys and have to level the slow way and if one of the players is nice, I often give them some random items for free (usually some junk like sigon parts), it's nice to see that they are so happy
I often give them away some random items too if they want to trade and show me their bad gear (not that I consider my gear good..)

I often trade for the low gems, because I use them to reroll bh's

once some guy was really nice for me, so I geared his whole barb
he got some things most rich people consider junk, but for him it were really nice items (full angelics + bonesnap, some helmet, boots, gloves and belt..)

I inspired Warlock to make a sanctuary zealot, using his fantastic scythe (40ias, -30req, 190% ed). People would ask Warlock in the games, what sort of aura does he use and if it is a hack..

I still wonder about that last bit, how did you inspire me to take that perticular aura again ? Cause I started filling that aura quite late in the character's development, at level 60-ish or so. I picked that aura mainly because you don't get that massively amped damage to undead returned and he mainly meets undead in CS. I allways had a fondness for 2 handed zealers since Fredsta suggested it. It was the logical next step after my exec zealer, which relies on fana to get his breakpoint.

The Grim Scythe is just a 182 damage one, can't recall the ED, but it's 30ias(which one needs combined with deaths/sigs) to get the breakpoint and it's -30 req, so the pala also has some life.

cube recipe. attempt to get better bh, or a decent damage magical weapon with multiple sockets.

Here's one method:
You mean the recipe: 3 Chipped Gems + 1 Magic Weapon = Socketed Magic Weapon? (ilvl=25 magic weapon with 1-2 sockets.)
Or this one: 3 Flawless Gems + 1 Magic Weapon = Socketed Magic Weapon?
(ilvl=30 magic weapon with 1-2 sockets.)

another, and much more expensive proposition happens when somebody accidentally re-rolls by not putting the proper number of skulls in with their soj when attempting to socket an item... since I don't re-roll items, or even socket items all that often, I verify the recipe each, and every time I have a soj + an item to socket...
