I play sp classic (meaning soley pvm) and was wondering what char and build would be fun and be able to solo hell
THanks
Everything will struggle to totally solo hell.
Your general best bets are Hammerdin, WW barb (likely mace), or orb sorc with one back up killing spell, and static.
Even with these cookie cutters you will have difficulties in places.
A lot of builds can solo hell, its just doing it in a timeframe of under a week solid

Hammerdin and Summoners are your best bets

Hammeradin will have much trouble soloing Maggot Lair, crucial to Act 2.

Eh one small area where he has trouble?
Sounds good then.
I'd say Hammerdin or ww barb. Using bsnap if your cheap like me ;D Or a good mart

Its not really that bad. You can still go through it with 1 point smite or charge using some shopped weapon. And in some of the corridors you can sort of haul the hammers as well.
it makes up for that one little problem with everything else.. Its by far the easiest build to complete hell with untwinked. Barbs struggle with getting a weapon and sorcs struggle with immunities or low damage.

Not in hell lol. i have level 29 conc and like level 15 Holy shield on my din, and smite still does dick. I can solo norm and NM maggot lair with ease. takes a smite to kill everything in normal and 1-2 smites in NM. But in hell.... it takes me a long time to get through mag lair with an Hdin. ><

long time, or PITA is a far cry from "virtually impossible"
akukami's summon/CE necro is probably the easiest for SP/Classic, as he just did it about a month ago on HardCore.

There are ways of positioning yourself even in the Maggot Lair so that your hammers hit. You may have to tank a little more than you'd normally like in order to get in position, but it's usually only going to be one or two monsters at a time. If all else fails (i.e. the passageway is going towards the bottom-right-hand corner of your screen), just lure the monsters back to a passageway that's oriented so that your hammers can hit.
I'd say CE Summoner is definitely one of the safest builds, though. Normal Duriel can be a bit of a cast-and-run panic fest, as can normal Diablo, but besides that there's not much to worry about.

When i soloed Duriel with my summoner necro i had level 20 raise skeleton and the rest were all the pre reqs to get to decrepify, i easily soloed duriel by casting decrepify on him, same with diablo, IMO corpse explosion should be learned in NM mode because skellies kill everything quick and easy in Normal
As for soloing hell, your best bet would probably be a jabazon or a summoner, hammerdins are good but that maggot lair is killer.
If you want to have fun, go with a CE Summoner. I already wrote a guide on it that's in the Builds sticky at the top of the page.

Well... I was untwinked in solo games, i.e. well below level 24 and with only lvl 12 or so Skellies (just enough for six). I ended up using IM + Blood Golem, running around a lot, and drinking all my mana pots. It wasn't pretty, but it got the job done without having to spend an hour or two leveling in false tombs.
What lvl were you when you took on Diablo?
