hey, i used to play LOD alot (NL uswest), for like 6 years and then i quit and haven't played for like 2 years now and all of a sudden a friend of mine starts playing and wants me to play classic w/ him. I'm thinking about it but just worried about changes classics gone through. I know when i used to play LOD, classic had a bunch of uber dupes on it which was annoying and im just wondering whether it's still as big of a problem or if majority have been deleted. Also whether any cool stuff has been added.

On a side note, i heard maphack gets you banned now? just wanna know cause i used to use it alot and if i play i don't wanna get banned.

ty for your responses in advance

No matter what the hack, it can get you banned. This doesn't mean it will, but it can. I can tell you that they definitely ban for maphack. I remember seeing a LOT of angry people on the battle.net forums about this some months back.

This is largely an anti-hacking community, so don't expect a positive response to hack questions. As the line of gold text at the top of the forums states:
Please do not abuse other members in any way. Please do not post links or information about hacking/warez/cheats.
Please read the rules of these forums as we rarely warn before banning.

Duping is pretty much a non-issue at this point on Classic. There was a public duping method at the beginning of this year, but it wasn't so widely exploited on Classic ladder and most Classic dupes have since poofed. The old 1.06 dupes on NL are also much less common, now, from my understanding.

There are still some general hacking issues. Refer to the quoted text for details.

yeah, i understand, no pro-hacking, i'm just asking so i know whats going on, ty.

Again, they were very uncommon. Most of the duped SOJs were immediately used for socketing or traded, and the traded ones often poofed. Again, items duped on Classic ladder are all but non-existent at this point. You would be very hard-pressed to find two people with the same rare. The biggest duping issue was runes on Expansion, as these could be used to make runewords and, in effect, "permed." About anything else disappears by game scans for dupes.

man you missed out, classic pre 1.1 was so much better than xpac, the only good thing i can say about x-pac was playing hc when it was just released and played with all the best pvp on the realm but otherwise i found it unbearable - hate the druid, hate the assasin, hate the cookie cutter builds/equipment and being 'fed' exp in baal run. Mainstream dupes are gone but really the game was ruined by hacks not dupes in my opinion, way back most people dueled with manners and it was bragging rights to beat people who used dupes with legit setup or when you had a legit that was objectively better than any dupe to keep for yourself :azn:

That would make a very good siggy. :)

Reduce LoD to it's essence in a single line. Impressive.
