Question regarding Death's Fathom

Hi there, I recently found a Death's Fathom but it has only +17% to cold skill damage. I was wondering if such a low roll would make it not as powerful as it should be when compared to Hoto or occy for a Blizzard or Orb sorc? Would this still be worth using? Thanks in advance!

Let's forget for a second how ridiculously rare Fathom is and that you actually found one yourself...

As long as you don't need the added resists and FCR from 'HotO', Fathom wins.

If I found one, though, I'd probably build my setup around it just to be able to use it.

Even the lowest Fathom will add more damage then hoto. Depending on the orb sorc, the fathom will most likely add more. However, because this fathom is so low, I'd still use a hoto, it's pretty important to hit max resistances and preferably 105% fcr. If you can manage both of them without a hoto, then feel free to use it.
