I've heard two different things...one is to get as much MF as possible, and the other is to have just a mediocre set of MF 100-250 and then have plenty of resists. The idea behind the 2nd option is that after a certain amount of MF you are more likely to get uniq's instead of yellows and as most uniq's other than Sojs are worthless it's actually better to have less MF.

Is this true? If not what is ideal...please give me some feedback. Thanks.

Stacking so much is rather pointless because of diminishing returns. I wore over 350% at one time, but kept finding crappy items like Gskins. If I were you I wouldn't even bother going over 200%, so you don't sacrafice too much stats/killing power.

Right now my baba has 165% base and find plenty of gg rares. That's not including switching out gull and the Item Find skill.

It depends on what youre killing. If you're glitching meph for example, absolutely no mf is best since you have a very high chance of gettting rares with 0 mf; with high mf in that situation, you would generally end up with a lot of failed set items (blue items with 2x dur), useless uniques and failed uniques(rares with 3x durability).
On the other hand, if you're killing something that would usually drop blue items if you had 0 mf(for example infector in hell cs) then having some mf would bump it to rares.
I cant tell you what the perfect amount of mf is, it all depends on the situation.

It is true that more mf is not always better.

Thanks for the comments...so im guessing for andy and cs runs it would be good to have around 150-200 mf? I dont do meph glitch yet but hopefully soon :).

Thanks a million.

If you're running bugged andy, than low mf would be better.
As far as cs goes, imo, the higher the better except for diablo, something like 300 seems reasonable.

MF "displayed" in game is not equal to the actual MF increase (at least I read this somewhere)

e.g. 100 MF (gull) = 50 more mf (in game) - NUMBER IS JUST AN EXAMPLE
200 MF (2gulls) = 75 more mf (in game) - JUST AN EXAMPLE

I used to be one of the people who'd stack 400+ MF under the assumption that this was one of the requirements to find really good items. How wrong I was.

If you're looking for Uniques and Set Items, then put on as much MF as you want. However, if you want nice Rares, 200-250ish MF is good enough. And then there's my favorite option: using the Andy Bug and Meph Glitching with a Sorc, you don't need any MF at all to find good stuff. Just put on as much Resist and Life gear as you can, and you're set.
